need help with 2004 350z..
Hey you guys, i just recently purchased a new 2004 350z. I just had a question to ask you guys.
- I love the car and have always wanted one to supe up and make nice. Since i spent most of money on the car i only have a couple grand left to spend. My question to you guys is that with the money would it be worth it for me to spend it on bolt ons (such as exahust intake test pipes) or should i spend it on cosmetics (spoiler, lips, bumpers) or should i work on my suspension (brakes, coilovers)
I just wana know what you guys think. as in is it worth it to spend the money on bolt ons? should i rather spend that on looks and suspension or is it better for me to just save up the money and buy something better later on along the road.
- sorry if this question has been asked already.. i couldnt seem to find one similar to mine. sorry if this question is "noobie" of some sorts just tryna get diffrent peoples opinions out there!!
Thanks

by the way, i just recently joined your forums but i have been reading and browsing for a while now and i must say im really liking it! appreciate it how most of u arent a** holes like other forums!
main purpose is like a daily driver with the occasional track sessions! so a setup that can work for both! kinda skeptical about bolt ons since all the things i here about them not making much of a diffrence!

Best answer is: "It's your car, mod what you want"
But I understand the need for the question. I focused on what I wanted out of the car when I got it. (Same Daily Driver duties you have) I wanted a louder exhaust, but not too loud and wheels/tires. Then I modded looks based on what popped up in the marketplace.
Like BMurray said, if I could do it over again, I would get my exhaust(GReddy EVO II ftw!) and a legit differential first. Then go from there.
I will say, mod towards the future unless you like to change it up often, spend money twice for the same thing. I have the INGS N Spec kit on my car(which I love) but I am wary of taking it to the track(something I didn't think about almost 4 years ago when I got the car.
Most people do bolt ons just because they know they are out there. My car had pop chargers on it when I bought it, so like I said, exhaust was first JUST for sound since I knew I wouldn't get much power from it.
I will say that full bolt ons and a tune can go a long way, but for the money, not worth it imo.
Learn your car first, then change things as you go. The Z is pretty amazing stock so keep that in mind!

Nice tips coming people here.
Just my small advise if you're going for "looks". First priority should be to close the wheelgaps and widen the stance a bit to make it sit flush with the fenders. And then you can move into installing body parts.
If you're doing bolt-ons to squeeze some HP, forget it. Majority of us have been there and wasted money lol. Only bolt-on I would do is the exhaust for some eargasm. If you're earning money like a boss, jump straight to FI.
Performance-wise, I would rather invest first in good suspension upgrades, good rubber, nice/light wheels, brakes, good LSD. Your priority here depends on how you would use the car. If it's a pure street car, then just lowering springs, wheels + rubber are enough IMO.

I'd look at maintenance-related items. How many miles are on the odometer? How do the wearables look? If mileage is high, look at damper replacement. If track usage is in the plan, I'd improve brakes and stock up on brake components such as rotors and pads. The rest of the money would go into track tires and maybe wheels. If there's some left, more upgrades toward anti-sway bars, bushings, and items to increase cooling capacities.

thanks probably the direction im headed! just lower it a bit. buy some spacers and get some better tires! real nice tips! thanks
As some have already mentioned, whats the car gonna be used for?
You said,DD--"some track".On the track thing, really?Sort of like a buddy of mine that has a Land Rover.Buys winches, lights all kinds of off road stuff.NEVER drives it
anywhere than the street. Also,of course its your budget.Looks like you have addressed the bolt-on malady that most Z guys go through. You really do not get much of this
except the money you spend. There are a few things you can do to make your car
more "responsive".The best bang for he buck,HFC'S and a plenum spacer,K&N in the
stock air box& a tune.If looks are your thing,go with new wheels. The OEM suspension on a Z is not bad for a DD.If you are a guy that appreciates or KNOWS wht better
handling is,go the sway bars, chassis stiffener route etc.
Some guys like the 350 left with a stock look.It is a beautiful, well thought out design.
There are some improvements like a lip, rear spoiler(a Blitz design really works on the Z)
that will update your car.
