Did you read the whole article?
They picked the Rx8 out of praticality and that it had four doors/ four seats. 3rd- s2000, 2nd- 350z, 1st - Rx8

The Z had alot of high points in this article but the RX8 took it because of those factors listed above. The Rx8 looks huge compared to the s2000 and Z.
The most interesting things to look at were those HP/ Torque charts...makes the Z look like it's in a totally different class.

My favorite quote was:

"The 350Z's version makes more torque just above idle than the Honda or Mazda makes at their peaks."

its dumb how they test the cars for performance, and then the rx-8 wins because of its practicality.

totally agree... this is ridiculus, but oh well, we all know which car's better
even though I do love RX-8's look (just the look)

Be glad that means less Z's and more S2000's and Rx8's on Z road.

What issue is that one (month)? I am going to get it.

Did you see the 0-60 time (5.3) and the quarter mile time (13.77) for the Z tested? That's freaking awesome for stock!

Scott (its ryan), yea I know man. Bad A$$ times. AFAIK: best time yet for the Z. I could care less what they chose as their personal favorite. I'll choose the one that leaves the others a few car lengths behind

dont matter, they arent catering to us if you havent noticed. we get the correct facts in other places. they are catering to the uninformed. those that wouldnt know the facts are wrong. same as the people that beleive when the the dealer says someone totally stupid.

not the first(and definitly wont be the last) time that a "sports car comparison" ended up being won by the slowest yet most practical car.

i'm beginning to think it's about the $...and in order to justify a car's worth you need to emphasize on the pros and "water down" the cons. In this case it was the rx8 turn to shine(paid for the advertisement?) That's my guess. I believe some magazines articles can be "bought." for that particular month? either way...i personally like the way the rx8 looks...interior is nice/probably to funky for some...exterior isn't so bad just to wimpy...not strong looking like the z. it reminds me of the new acura tl is it? body frame wise. Someone work on the Z's grill design=)

can somone with photoshop incorportate the rx8 front grill with the z's body?...i just want to see what i would look like=)

Totally lame article. I'm looking at it right now. I'll quote from the Conclusion:

"The RX-8 isn't technically the quickest car here, nor is it the best-handling or stopping. But it is competitive in every performance test without the compromises . . . [I]t is . . . the least-expensive, most-accomodating, best all-around solution to having your uniquely styled sport coupe and room for four adults. We think it offers the best of both worlds with the fewest penalties."

I mean, they ADMIT it's not the quickest, best handling.

And DUH, it's the ONLY one that has room for 4. I didn't know they were testing 4-passenger sports cars! Maybe they should have made sure all 3 cars had room for 4 then if that was a criterion!!

edit: Fairlady, it's the March 2004 issue. With the Shelby Cobra on the cover.

I read the article...and to sum it up..the Z lost the SPORTS CAR Comparo due to harsh ride, lack of cargo space and interior quality and ergonomics...

Was this a luxury sedan comparo or something???

It just seems that the critics "seemingly" don't like the Z (or are inexplicably unfavorable of), but the enthusiasts love it.

I have a motor trend subscription and I can almost swear this mag is owned by Ford!

When they re-released the photos for the production version of the Mustang...the sentiments were along the lines of...
"Wow even better than the concept!"

uh... I don't think so.

I can totaly understand why they picked the RX-8 over the Z. It so much more practical while stile being very nice and very sporty. Once you drive the RX-8 you will understand.
