Yea I believe the oil consumption was only the 06 MT. I was just worried that the oil burning will hurt the performance down the road. Just was wondering if it was worth it keep this vehicle or not. I'm sure there are 06 MT owners with a lot more mileage can help me make my decision, lol. I don't really want to part with my car, as long as I know that there won't be permanent damage to the car due to excessive burning of the oil.

Nothing is for sure. You either keep it and take your chances or sell it and move on. Ultimately you have to make your own decision. Some may have the oil issue will others do not...its all up to you.

Why not confirm that you in fact have Oil Consumption issues before making any assumptions?

Hmm, good point. It's really hard to get a accurate reading on these dipsticks. I will put some miles on the car when it gets warm, but I m pretty sure my car has the oil consumption. it seems like majority of the 06 MT vehicles were affected.

I got an 06 last summer bone stock with 40k miles and it burns or goes through about 1 qrt every 1k miles. I put 10k on it sofar and it's been the same every 1k I drive. 2k ago I installed Motordyne mrev2, 5/16 spacer, Tdx2 exhaust, Art test pipes and did the Osiris up rev tune. Dynod 270 to the wheels with these mods and still goes through the same amount of oil. I drive like a madman tho so that may contribute. Now that there's no cats I don't see any smoke out the exhaust. Only sometimes when redlining. This is normal for high perf engines. There's different theories about why they go through oil. I think that it's because of the aggressive cam/valve tuning done in 06. Leaves the exhaust valves open alittle too long sucking oil through. If you keep checking oil level and topping up you should be ok whatever the case. Even if it's the rings and starts getting worse a rebuild will fix that problem. Z's are always worth a rebuild when it comes time I believe. Awesome cars.

You need to confirm if it has oil consumption or not. Monitor the oil level every tank of gas at least.
I have an 06' it burns oil. Its got full exhaust, plenum, intake, oil cooler, jwt clutch, among others. I track my car a hand full of times a year. Has 50,000 miles its an American car. No problems I just have to add oil often to keep it full. Gotta keep it full.
Might install a catch can to collect the oil. The car makes 270whp n/a too so it's healthy in that respect.
Its worth modding if you love the car thats the conclusion I came to. I'm going to be removing the a/c and installing a Koyo rad this year.
If/when the engine blows I'll replace it with something significant. Maybe a ZL1 engine? Or maybe a vr38 if someone finally swaps a GT-R motor in a Z.

Dyno breakdown after mods and tune. Notice there's gains throughout the entire rpm range. Not bad for an oil burner. Even the stock dyno was normal for even a non oil burner. http://www.flickr.com/photos/118895344@N04/12846709994/

Didn't read all the posts but I will say this

OP, if you only drive 1000miles a year...why the hell do you care about oil consumption. Even extreme consumption is going to cost you like what? One or two litres of oil a year? Oh noes.

I have an 06 with plenty of bolt ons just short of cams. I am a quart low at 3k miles if I forget to check the level. But the car is very sold and doesn't give me issues except the cam sensor lol. If u can get an HR do it I wish I did for the extra power. I currently have 40k miles.
