Seat cover recommendations.
The seats in my 04 ZR are in great shape but they are starting to fade and since my top never goes up I'd like to protect the seats before they get worse. My seats are black and I do have side airbags. I'd like to get a lighter color (grey) since it does get hot when parked on sunny days. I know I can get some cheap universal covers for like $20 but I'd prefer something a little nicer if I can. My seats are perfect so I don't want to re-upoholster them. This is our baby so we wan't to take care of this before it gets worse. Thanks for any suggestions.
Katzkin are better than OEM in my opinion. Though, they are a full cover and not just a simple cover like what i believe Pete may be wanting. I will say though, the Katzkin ones are worth the money from the ones i have seen
Katzkin black leather $1100.00 installed according to the quote I just got from their web site/local dealer......2003 350Z. Not cheap but I think competitive. One day installation once the kit comes in to the local dealer. Might be doing it - after 143,000 my cloth drivers seat is shot.
Assuming you have leather seats (you didn't specify in your post):
If you want to restore the existing seats and the only problem is that they are fading, then this product works amazingly well. After I applied the black leather balm to my driver's seat, which gets used every day, it ended up looking as new as the passenger seat, which never gets used. All you have to do is clean the seat with a dedicated leather cleaner (I used some leather sofa cleaner I bought at Ikea) and then you wipe on the balm with a cloth. Let it dry a bit, buff it off and your seat literally looks like new again. I've never had any problems with the balm/dye transferring to my clothes. They say you should re-apply every 3 years or so, which is fine, since it only takes a few minutes to do anyway.
It's a lot cheaper than a seat cover, and you get to maintain the OEM look.

^^ Great recommendation... I’m also assuming his convertible has leather seats. The driver’s seat always shows more wear. A product that renews the seat is wonderful.
I have a 2003 that I bought new. The fabric on the driver’s seat wore through a few months ago. There is a hole in the fabric exposing the foam. My car is now at an upholstery shop that is installing Katzkin leather seat covers. --Spike

Sorry forgot to mention I have cloth seats. I have the Enthusiast model. I was hoping for some covers just to put over my current seats. I'm trying to keep the car original silly as that may be.
