have 04 Z and 10k budget,how much HP i can pull off it ?
Hi guys, first of all, I purchased my first Z and I am lovin it !
It is 04 and looks good.I plan to do some mods later on and iam looking at the budget of 7-11k.
I know that i have a lot of reading to do,but i am just wondering, how much of a beast can i pull off such budget ? I was hoping for around 400-500HP maybe more with some new suspension and brakes.
I do not plan to improve looks of the car, this is just for performance stuff.
What do you fellas think,can i build a decent Z ?

I'd honestly look into buying a used vortech kit, or a twin turbo kit off the forum. Then put the rest of the money into instal, clutch/flywheel, fuel components and a good tune. With the money left over save up to build the bottom end.
10k can do a lot esp if you buy second hand parts.
I'd go with a TT kit of craigslist or the classified, upgrade the clutch and get a good set of wheels and tires. I'm sure you can forge the internals too.
Or you can go the other way around and start with suspension but might be hard to do suspension and 500 hp.

sounds like the best idea, a brand new vortech goes around 6-8k use the rest for install, youll be looking right around 400 hp
You've got four choices.
a) You pick a couple areas, and do some high quality modding if you pick one area. Just suspension, braking, wheels. Just Engine. Or Just looks.
b) You can cheap out (like most of us) and buy a billion different parts for every aspect.
c) You can sell the car and use that money plus the 10k cash on a car with larger displacement, more pistons, and more power capability with less money. (My preference is an '03 Cobra.)
d) You can keep the car and keep the money and invest it in something that will appreciate or at least hold it's value. Something that will help you build your wealth and not spend it on a depreciating asset. (This is my choice if I had to do it over.)

Personally I'd put the money towards suspension and handling and have a blast in the twisties. I don't think these cars were really meant to be horsepower beasts, 10k for a sketchy sub 400whp result just doesn't make sense to me.
As PerfZ said in the previous post, if the engine has been looked after and is in good condition with fairly low miles you should be able to get close to 400 without it going POP. If you're buying second hand I would imagine you'd be able to get reasonably good parts, however I have no idea of the cost of second hand parts in your part of the world.
