To the OP, there are far too many variables with this for us to give you an even close-to-accurate answer. With that being said, it will definitely be more expensive than your RSX. Talk to your insurance agent/broker.

I respectfully disagree with that statement. It all depends on who you are, how you drive, how mature you are, your ability to control yourself (against your friends and every other moron who wants to race you at every light) and IMO who's paying for everything. I'm a bit biased, though, considering I myself am 17 and own a Z.

It all varies and honestly...keep the rsx. Your insurance will definitely be too high for you to afford with car payments unless mommy and daddy are paying for it in which case...still stick with the rsx and save yourself all the flaming or do it discretely and never tell anyone on this forum anything about how you got your car and never post anything ever.

That is bloody bullish!t the way how they do that. The only factors that should play a role is driving record or a risk assessment test should be taken. This is why all my cars except my beater car is insured under my old man or my mom and I'm waiting until I turn 30 until I take it out of their names. I'm pretty sure you don't gain anything if you register a sports car in your name if your under 25. All you do is waste a lot of money on the same coverage as someone who's older that could be spent elsewhere on more important things.

Funny coincidence, I also came from an 02 rsx and my insurance was actually cheaper when I got the Z. The rsx was non type s though.

Honda/Acura's are known notoriously for getting stolen/broken into or vandalized in the process. Well at least in New Haven where I went to college a lot of people would steal them. Same goes for places like Hartford or Bridgeport.

I just bought my 2003 350z Track Edition,
I added myself and my car to my moms insurnace
I am 20 Years Old and Live in San Diego, CA
I have 1 Ticket on my record
I pay $95 Bucks a month for Full Coverage Insurance (Financed)
But remeber thats including my moms multi car discount and it being cheeper for being on hers, I also went from paying $35 for my honda civic to the $95 for the 350z but its well worth it for what your paying to cover..

When I first got my 07 Z I was paying about 3k a year for full coverage, I was 21.

Recently I got back into a different 07Z and I am now paying 1k a year and I am 24, the only thing that changed was me switching insurance and selecting the car as a low mileage vehicle (I only put on about 4k miles a year)

That is not true, because I did do the "Free Online Quote" and even called and talked to them...They told me (Geico) that it would be around $250 without the two tickets I have, each time (I did the quote three times) and when I actually went and got the car and had to put it on insurance thru geico it ended up being only $95

Year of 350z will make a difference too.

My original quote was for an 04 and when I decided on an 08 I assumed it would be the same - bad assumption - jumped like 200 bucks a year for the HR. Worth it imo though.

I'm in your county OP - but like everyone said my rates won't help you calculate yours. Especially with my driving record factored in...

I'm actually an insurance agent and it all varies depending on your age, county you live in, incident history and sometimes your credit score. You can always call a local agent and ask them for a quote. Just make sure you have a VIN and DL # if you want the most accurate quote.

Also agents have to pay for MVR (Motor Vehicle Reports) so they will not run them until you are ready to purchase the insurance to save them money. In FL an MVR costs about $13 per driver being quoted and that adds up quickly when people call just to "check and see".

Really? I never knew that. That explains why my agents hate when I start car shopping... Please quote s2k, 350z, e36 m3, e46 m3, wrx, wrx sti, C5 vette, c5 z06....

Haha.

I have an 03, 26, no license and 2 fender benders (less than $500) in the past 5 years. I was paying $200/month full coverage then after a year trickled down to $150. Now my GF added my car to her insurance and its $70/month.

I'm 21 with no tickets or wrecks with an 04 and I pay $340 a month. But if you ask me it's worth it every time I push the clutch and turn the key lol

I am also 17. I threw my 350z on my parents insurance (That I'm still allowed to drive on) as an extra car for them and its like $140/6 months full coverage.

Good Lord. You could lease a car for that much.
