Truth about ordering?
Ok, I finally got an answer! The order number I got was confirmed as valid. And yes, the dealers can order a vehicle to a customer's specs from their allotments if they choose to do so.
So here's my plug for my dealership for telling me the truth, selling the Z at MSRP, and for their overall professionalism! They are Shingle Springs Nissan in CA! They are located a little ways East of Sacramento. If you're interested in ordering a Z and live in CA or surrounding areas, I HIGHLY recommend them!

The only way that would be possible is if the dealer was allocated less cars than what they could fill. This dealer could have taken other orders like yours and all told them the same story. Lets say three people walked in before you and ordered Z's and the dealer told them they would put in their order in Sept. Unfortunately the dealer does not know if they can put all those orders in Sept. because they do not know how many Z's they will be allocated. If they were only given 3 for Sept. order build and you were number 4 on the list you were probably bumped to October.
Them telling you that Nissan would not accept the order is a nice way of telling you that they overpromised and under delivered.

According to the dealer, I'm the first one to order a Z. However, this is a small, new dealership with a lot of potential. Perhaps they are only being allocated 1 Z every 2 months - maybe that's it. They seem like pretty honest folks.
