Default New owner - 2007 - Having problems :(

Hey all. Just picked up an immaculate (interior/exterior) 2007. Unfortunately i guess mechanically it was not as sound.

Getting code p0021 and p0011. Also the oil pressure is very low. It idles at about 5psi and cruised at about 25. Ive never seen it above 60 even wot or cold. Oil level is fine but looks dirty.

I need advice on what to do. Is it safe to drive? Should I change my oil and pressure and cam positioning sensor?

Could be a bad sensor for the oil pressure issue. but it sounds like a cam issue that can be expensive. I would search to see what those codes generally are.

If the oil is dirty then change it right away.

After the oil is at normal operating temperature and you're cruising it should be 60.

My oil gauge reads similar at idle. Nissan dealer could pin point if it is a sensor but mine does go up as I accelerate to above 60 at wot and just below at cruising speed if I remember correctly. Winter time here in ontario. Good luck

Oil pressure sensors goes out in all Zs, but if it's out it will read 0 100% the time. Mine went out as well. Maybe a slight malfunction with it?

I would change oil and filter immediately. Run some good 93 in it. Maybe do a refresh and drive it around and see if anything changes.

You could be lacking enough oil? If not, it could be a faulty senor. You should be running at slightly below 60 psi at warm idle. At a cold start, it should normally run at slightly above 60 psi and will lower as the motor warms up. Check your dipstick and see if your oil level is where it should be. I have an 03' 350z with a vq35de motor and I use the full 5 quart container of mobil one full synthetic as per every oil change. However, you have an 07' 350z with the vq35hr motor (faster than mine). So I'm not too sure if your engine oil specifications are the same as mine, but check your owner's manual. If your oil level is where it needs to be, my best bet is that its a faulty sensor.

While it's most likely a faulty gauge... please please please get it checked out. My buddy bought an 03 last month. He was told the gauge was faulty and it was actually accurate. His oil pump wasn't functioning and after about 2000 miles "knock knock knock BOOM". Do not ignore this.

"You should be running at slightly below 60 psi at warm idle."

It's more likely it'll be slightly below 30psi at warm idle.
