Brought my Z in for minor warranty work
I decided to bring my 350Z in to take care of the rattle/vibration problems, which were starting to bug me. I asked them to look at
1) Vibration in passenger sun visor (on some road surfaces)
2) Vibration from rear strut brace area (at high RPM and some road surfaces)
They wouldn't order a new sun visor without diagnosing it for themselves first (which I can understand, because Nissan won't pay for parts based on a diagnosis by the customer). So I am hoping they confirm the problem and either fix it or order a new visor and replace it later.
The scary thing is, the guys at the dealership were practically drooling over the car when I brought it in, since they only had their allocation of three cars in and they were gone to the preorder customers the same day, so they haven't had much time to see a 350Z up close. I had to leave it overnight, but they put it inside. I'm afraid of the "test drive" they will have to do in order to hear the sound (I told them they could just tap the visor, but no, they need to do the test drive of course!) I'm glad it's broken in, anyway; the worst they can do is redline it (unless some oaf misses a shift or something). I hope they don't take turns test driving (I noted the odometer mileage when I brought it in).
I have about 1900 miles on the car. I wonder if I should get them to do an early oil change on it while it's there?

Wow, same story but different location (visor rattle). The service folks gave me the same song and dance about needing to drive it to hear the rattle for a day or two, then after fixing, drive it some more...blah blah blah. I ofcourse did not like the sound of that just to fix a rattle in the visor! The GM of the dealership got involved and my return trip was much more pleasant. I drove the car with the technician in the passenger seat, he did his diagnostics and my new visor should be coming in any day now. It only takes them like 10 minutes to replace the visor. I would not have left my car there overnight....I just did that with my car stereo place and now I have a door ding!
(which they are fixing at their cost tomorrow)....just my 2 cents.
Let me know how your expereince goes with the visor and the rear strut brace area because I think I have the rattle back there too!

I have this rattle in both of my visors!, I put folded paper towel in them as a temporary fix, until I need to take it for something else.
I will not let them keep my car to diagnois this! I may be in for an up-hill battle. I will post the result, later.

They've ordered a new visor but couldn't find the other rattle. I told them it sounded like it was coming from the rear brace, but now I am thinking that may be wrong -- maybe it's the shield rattle. Unfortunately, I told them to reproduce the problem they have to bring the revs beyond 6000, so I am having terrible thoughts of mechanics driving the snot out of my car!
How about vibration/rattle around the passenger door speaker? I am getting that in addition to the visor rattle when playing certain tunes. It is not the speaker itself, but something touching or right around it.

What is the "shield" rattle??
My concern is this car is tight on the suspension and these will only get worse!
However, this car is freakin' fun to drive!!!

My passenger visor is not rattling, but the passanger seat belt connector is. It's a very high tingy sound.
No, this is not the passanger seat belt hitting the side of the car problem, it's the actual connector for the seatbelt near the center console. If the seatbelt is not physically in it, it will make a tingy sound when I go over bumps or get on a rough road. If I grip the thing the sound goes away instantly.
Think I'll try to get them to replace it. Anyone else get that rattle?
Also getting an occasional rattle from the drivers side arm rest in the door (goes away when I put my arm on it). That one is very intermittant so I dont know that I can get them to hear it on a quick test drive.
