Im still pretty new to this forum and to my 350z. Im pretty sure this forum was very alive back then. Its good to see old members and moderators still active even those who dont own a Z anymore. It is sad how these forums are not like they use to. I use to very active on Zilvia.net and even that forum has died out. Im also a member on the Tacomaworld forum but that one seems to be very active. Still a lot of legit users old and new that go in there and share good info. Completely different platform as the truck scene tends to be more of an older crowd.
Still a lot of good info on here. People just need to stop being lazy and search.

I’m sorta confused by the political content here (of all places) but it is what it is …

I do appreciate the semi-worthless bumps of old threads that aren't serious. There are some real gems in here that are hilarious. Maybe I'll go post in a couple good ones to bring them back. Other than the obvious Thanksgiving thread...

Agreed. I don't think it has any place on a car forum but it really is unavoidable these days. Of course, this is just my opinion. Just like all the opinions in the Current Topics forum. How's that saying go? Opinions are like... And they all stink?

Or funny. Ha!
The other thing I scratch my head over are the spammers. Why does someone think that posting links to China-made semiconductors is gonna get traction HERE on a CAR forum??
No, not me.

I was waiting for the perfect amount of years to comment in this thread. I grew up in the m3 forum and e46fanatics. I had my high school days in the civic and 4g63 when there was only myspace. its always a cycle. Now, my low milage m3 is something kids can't afford anymore because age, parts, price and maintenance, but the best is "is too old for me". Good. There is no 350z as clean as mine in my area with original 120k...heck there is no more Z in my area. I can't wait to change my plate to classic. in 5 years, I will be even happier. I do own newer high tech SUV, but I enjoy a 2003.5 m3 and my 2005 350z better than anything else. "both manual" which even most ballet parking kids can't drive today. "I am the dude with yellow Z now". I don't own the shop anymore to do tranny/engine etc...but still love to do most maint in my little home garage. cheers people and thanks for keeping this forum alive for the old folks like me.

Friend on the Z34 forum first told me about them and other friends in SoCal know of their work.

Specialty Z is a great shop. If I lived in So-Cal that's where I would go. I think Seb took over as the OG owner (Greg) retired. They specialize in Z32s, but they know their way around all the late model Z & G platforms. I was really bummed when I discovered they discontinued their Sport Street Clutch kit (made by RPS) & Flywheel for the Z33. Other than SZ, I don't know of any other independent shops with a focus on Nissans in So-Cal.

Semi-Official Notice: We have now made the transition from my350Z.com to myPolitics.rant (with a few Z threads and the monthly "Useless" thread thrown in to keep it real. At least the "Useless" thread calls it what it is.)

The questions being asked seem to be from new drivers who know very little about cars in general, or about the Z33 in particular. Examples include asking about what's involved with making 500-600 hp from $5K in parts. Or about how hard it is to buy a car (yes, immediate gratification is not available when picking a Z), or mistaking specific parts like what a "Murano rear end" is doing on their Z.
...
For every post asking for relevant information in the maintenance section, there's another two asking for how to "fix" their cars. As though any of us could magically appear next to their engine bays and tell them what the solution is. Many times, it's as simple as telling them to use their cars onboard diagnostic programs to pinpoint the problem. Sometimes, they may have to bite the bullet and take their cars to a Nissan dealer to have a tech with the right tools diagnose a complicated issue, rather than throw parts at it. And then there are those who think the Z is as simple as putting different parts from different models (engines, harnesses, ECMs, etc.) on a stripped shell and expecting it to run, and run perfectly.
...
Or, if this is their first car, start with an education of automotive basics (so you know how certain parts work and what they look like) together with doing a thorough SEARCH before posting what could be a lame question. It'll probably save them from a certain amount of embarrassment and keep the rest of us from slapping our foreheads every day!
