Honestly man sorry to break it to you, but it doesn't sound like you can really afford the car. gas will cost you more then 50-80 bucks a month. I can't speak on insurance too much because I'm assuming your in the states, but here in Canada it would be close to $200 a month with it under your mom's name with your name as a second driver (which you should probobly do). As for maintnance, with a $500-$700 monthly income, any repair would be really difficult without running to mommy and daddy. I would recommend maybe an RSX Type S? Affordable, good on gas, cheaper insurance, and probobly easier to maintain as well.

Another one of these? Dang, there's like one a day...

Word of advice, don't post stupid questions on this forum. When some of the veteran members see stuff like this, you get roasted.

... 17 huh? +1 to the rsx idea. Your not ready for a Z even though they are becoming very affordable to just about anyone now.

Advice, keep driving the beater, keep saving money, finish high school/college, get a career and then you can think about buying a sports car.

$50 to $80 a month in gas, that's like 1 tank depending on the current gas price

Your first car should be something you can rag on and not worry about damage very much. Because it's pretty likely to happen, and clearly you won't have the funds to repair said damage. Just do yourself a favor and buy something reliable and slow until you age a bit, it may save your life.

I do have a first car, i'm driving it as we speak and i'm sick of it. I can handle 295 hp that's not a problem for me, price is what I really came out here for. and what kind of damage would I expect? I'm sure if theres some extra money needed out of my funds my Mom will definitely help me, and i'm not planning on driving this thing around every day, i'll most likely use the beater I drive right now to school and back and the Z around the weekends

Where'd you get 295hp? And what makes you think you can handle it? If you're half as reckless as every other kid your age you'll be street racing your buddies in Hondas the day you buy it. You will appreciate the car much more when the entire thing is funded by your own money, it's just not a good idea.

insurance for 2 cars, gas for 2 cars, repairs for 2 cars, and payments on the z is going to cost more then $500-$700 a month. thats not to mention things regular 17 years buy like fast food and video games and ****. so unless your mom is going to help you out alot for paying for things then no you definitely cannot afford it. PS. your 16 year old friend who wants to be rolling around in the same car as you, probably isn't looking out for your best interest... but then again who am I?

The beater I drive currently is my Moms, i'm not paying for it at all, it just takes me to school, So really insurance for 1 car, gas for 1 car and repair for 1 car. The payments will not be 500-700 a month. My uncle works at a used car auction and he can get me clean title 350Z's under 100k miles for 5-8K. If I decide to finance that with 2K down, thats about 200-250 a month.

Sorry 305 hp. I can handle it because i've droven my cousins Evo for about 2 weeks, I'm not a reckless driver as the other kids, I enjoy and appreciate the sports car. And the car is basically funded by my own money and trust me, I will appreciate it alot.. When ever I see someone driving a Z beside me on the road I usually stop them and talk about their car. I can truly say this is the car for me.

Well dang, you left out the part about driving an Evo for two weeks! You should be driving around a Z06 not some weak-sauce 350z!

well in that case i guess you wont be paying alot since most of your gas is covered for, and your only insuring 1 car. I guess you can make it work out.
btw what year Z are you getting? and any pics?

i wish my parents help me out when i was that age, but i hate to say it try going something more reliable and cheap on maintenance, instead of jumping into a Z right away wont last you long if don't take care of it you'll just get problems after problems
