Default Purely Information Question

I was asked what was the top speed of a 350Z by a neighbor of mine and I told him I frankly didn't know. I have read/heard gearing would take it to 186 mph but assume air resistance would stop it long before then. I have no desire to try it for myself as I have done a high speed run with the top up and down and called it quits long before the car ran out of breath, and I have no illusions of a race car driver for me. Anyway if anyone has an idea i am curious to know.

^^ Great point.

Top speed (electronically governed) is 155mph.

But I doubt that few (as stock) on the road today are capable of doing that safely... and fewer still, drivers capable of same.

Air resistance is a factor... But the biggest thing is HP/tq to keep pushing up to that speed.

I'm sure a 500hp+ z has ran the mile in Texas that can make it up to those speeds.

When people ask me that or ask me how fast have you had it? fast enough, I have nothing to prove that is why I watch people on YouTube do it.

I usually tell people It has no trouble doing the posted speed limits... But that is a lie. Our roads are so shitty I hardly ever go the speed limit.

I've hit 155 fairly easy on florida roads (always no cars on the road) I feel like it has a bit left in it. I do have tires rated for 189 and light bolt ons no suspension / aero. I would guess by how It was doing getting to 155 that 165/170 would be it (DE revup)

I get whistling out of the driver side window due to old seals @ 125ish but the rest of the car is solid as a rock, very stable.

I have a base model HR with no mods other than wheels, tires and lowering springs. I took it up to 140 before I got nervous about being caught by a cop or something, and it seemed to have some room left for more. How much more? I have no idea..

Topped out at 153 on the beltway years ago before any bolt ons, wheels or suspension mods.

At 165 my sedan felt stable but ran out of power because I was at almost redline in 5th (AT). I have a lot of aftermarket suspension parts though.

Well meant without speed limiter and basically few mods as what made me curious was remembered one of the car mags long ago tested the Supra, 300ZX, etc and the Supra was limited by air getting under the hood. Or something like that. Anyway thanks for the replies and as side note doing 153 on a possibly patrolled road would have scared me sh&tliss!

It was one of the few times where I was lucky enough to get a good stretch of clear road with little to no traffic and no LEOs. Never come close to that ever again though.

Electronically limited at 157mph, how the limiter work I have no idea. Never hit it and mine has been moved to 200 or something. Now we also have indicated vs reality, no idea what reality is on GPS when the limited kicks in.

Noice ^^

I had my HR's speedo buried when I first got it. 160 on the analog but didn't check the digital. All stock except pop chargers that came on the car.

Amateurs dont use nitrous oxide. I've seen the way you drive, you've got a heavy foot. You'll blow yourself to pieces.
