Next Nissan Z car getting Delayed / Temp Discontinued
Below are a few sources stating that Nissan doesn't have any plans of releasing a a new Z car any time soon and the car will get "temporarily discontinued" similar to the gap between the 300zx and the 350z. Thought this info might interest you folks..

Doesn't surprise me...scarcity mentality...
I think one bad thing about the corvette and mustang is that everyone knows that there will be one next year and it'll be slightly better than the one before it.
Toyota is setting themselves up nicely if they want to re-release the supra. I'm happy they aren't coming out with a ??380z?? it make the 370 and the 350 that much more valuable.

man, the reason i dont want to buy a 370z right now is bc im waiting for something new/better, just like how they had 35de till the 2006, then hr came out. im hoping next generation z will have some sort of major improvement like that also.
i would like the idea of 380z, thats something cool. or maybe on next one they ll add turbos or something, but to the same v6 platform, that would totally be awesome.

Nice catch on the three articles, but they all seem to be based off the Aussie press, who are also curious about the next Zed or Z-car. Nakamura is a senior Nissan exec, so he should have some insight into near-future development paths. In any case, the worldwide market has slowed so much for sportscars that it's hard to make a good business case for immediately replacing the Z34.
It's also interesting to note how expensive the 370Z is in other markets. North America is still one of the cheapest markets to buy and maintain a car in the world! But that won't help us to speed up the development of the next Z- reading between the lines, there isn't even a dedicated design or engineering team working on the Z35 yet. We may go through two or three Altima or Murano redesigns before a new Z appears. People just don't want to buy sportscars any longer...

I know this is just a dream, but if I had my way, they would release two models:
A toyobaru killer 250Z: something styled like the original 240 (but not like the 1999 concept) with a turbo 4.
A modern muscle killer 400zx: twin turbo V6 GT car
I'd buy both.

I dont think this is the case. the problem is for the price of a nismo, I can get a mustang GT, and modify the suspension and have a much funner car. I love my 350z, but being in a local Zclub and seeing the issues with the 370, shows me I dont want that car, (Full starvation on hard right hands, Overheating like crazy, thousand dollar to fix clutch issues, Overheating breaks with out major modification) with a basic interior, something I actually like, but not at 42k. The car just isn't worth it.
The car just needs more power. a real LSD, Less weight using more aluminum and carbon fiber. Wheels that dont look stupid (all of the sport wheels) and at 42k I dont think that is to much to ask. Less Nismo, More power plz.

Dont base your decision on solely power output...factor in weight too...if they put out a car that has 300hp but weights 2400lbs...sure the gtr, corvette, mustang all have amazing engine outputs but if you're moving a tank than what's the net effect...
Mainstream sports cars in the future will not have more engine/power but rather come down in weight. With how strict emissions and CAFE are becoming it's only a matter of time until all cars have turbo'd 4s...

I understand the significance of the weight-to-power aspect of a car, but I don't care about a 2400 lb Z with 300 hp. I'm at the point in my life where I've had my fill of 300+ hp cars. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I just want more power. A 400 hp Carrera S would be nice. Even an F355, Z06, or GTR would do. I'm moving back to Germany soon and I'm shipping my 350Z and my 370Z to sell for my next fast ride.

Looking at the numbers sold, I think the do need to CANX it for a bit. Hopefully it will come back better in a few years. Get a BRZ killer S-16 chassis together for the current market and let the GTR be the car the please the hp queens for now.
I would love to see a lighter faster car, screw the hp wars , make it handle like an S2k with its current power levels.
