I've seen a few cars in our region with that on the back. I think that's great.

Thanks, KingBaby! Here's one more video from that last race at High Plains Raceway:

The view is from an F Production Caterham (Lotus Super 7) and looks great from the perspective of that looong hood and motorcycle fenders. You'll see that fresh Redline paint and graphics glistening off the flanks and rear bumper of my Z33 at the start of the race. Despite having race slicks and a full-prep production car, he wasn't going to keep up with the three leaders for long.

Great inside position re-claim at 1:07!! And then he ran the course like Solo 1 for the duration with that Acura never challenging again!! (Nor challenging the leaders as you said either... heh heh). Awesome vid, thanks, David!

Thanks Mic- you may have noticed the course layout is different than the video linked to post #67. While both were shot from Loti (one was yellow and the other red), the first one was of the entire 2.55-mile HPR course, while the last race utilized the West course (2.0-mile) configuration. These Super 7s are run by a father-son team who seem to have a ball racing them. While I only get to see them in impound after the races, they're both beautifully prepared cars.

As I write this, the small GoPro camera I own sits on top of my desk, reminding me that SOMEDAY I should figure out why it doesn't work anymore and start making some videos of my own once again.

You should definitely do that David. I'd really like to see some laps in your Z. Especially considering we run a lot of the same tracks. I'm just a lot slower.

Thanks for posting the video. It's always great to see the Z out there on the track.

Here it is, October and the start of fall. Latest plan is to enter the American Road Race of Champions (ARRC) at Road Atlanta in November to finish out the year. The only question is the weather and the 1,200 mile tow at that time of the year. Plenty of ice and snow is possible in Colorado that time of year.

Just a quick update: my entry to the ARRC is now in and I'll be headed to Road Atlanta to race November 7. Already spent some time repairing the overhead console in my Titan (broke and fell down) tow vehicle, and we Z owners should be glad we don't have problem parts like that. Today, I'll pull the Z out of the trailer and get it ready to race in T3 trim. That means adding lead and steel bricks back in and bolting them down so the car will weigh 3,450# at the end of the race! There's also some CELs to check and class graphics to replace, so I better get busy.

This shot is from last year's ARRC. Nothing like entering turn one at 100+ MPH, light brake, one gear rev-matched heel-toe downshift and lay on the throttle going up the hill. With the added weight this year, I imagine the T3 Z might be sluggish in this area, but I hope it'll still be FUN. We'll see.

Great thread dkmura!
You're welcome- just my contribution to our great wasteland of ads and pleas for mechanical/electrical/love life advice on this board. Some of us are still having serious fun with our Z33s without having to put a blower on, or throw a V8 in. Traveling to some of the greatest venues in American road racing is an adventure unto itself, but racing can be done at any number of local circuits and is where the Z really shines!

You know you have my support, David!!

Good luck at ARRC and let's show the world that Z33s are still in the game!

Thank you, Mic! As a finishing touch for the 350Z refresh, I took it to my local tint shop to have a clear hood bra put on. This one uses the XPEL scratch shield material that resists scratches (like the ones I create in trying to clear the black rubber streaks that always appear after a race weekend). Kinda like the Infiniti scratch shield paint on my wife's G37xS. We'll see how good it really is! The Z is now safely put away in the enclosed trailer and I went though the Titan to make sure it's as ready as I know how to get it. Here's the beast ready to start the long cross-country tow starting next week:

One more pic of the Z refresh. It still looks fresh after this fall event:

Looking good. I wish I had the time to consistently get on a track with my Z. I'll just have to be happy with some weekends at a local autox track during the summers.

Thought I'd add one more pic to this thread, since it shows a set of wheels I don't usually get to showoff. This is my SCCA T3 Z on rain tires with Enkei Raijins in matte gunmetal. I gotta say, the Z looks mighty good with these tuner series wheels, don't you think?

Too bad they're not quite as light as the RPF-1 or PF-01 wheels I usually run in SCCA racing. Enkei doesn't quite offer them in the sizes I want for racing either, but they make one helluva good set of wheels for use as rains. Typically, I keep them on the tire rack ready to go in case the clouds start gathering. Or, as in the case with the ARRC race in Atlanta, I got those puppies ready as soon as I got to the track! In any case, they're ready to take the Z into battle when needed.

Thanks guys- this 2015 race car refresh came out very well! Those Enkei Raijins also help the appearance and are a much more affordable option for all the newbie Z owners looking for an affordable wheel with MAT technology.

Mic- of course, you know every ounce of unsprung weight I can wring out of this car matters! And yes, even with TEN run groups through the ARRC, they still give the winners a victory lap with a checkered flag to display. As I said, Atlanta region does it right!

And thanks also to bith8791, I appreciate the kudos. But take a good look at it now, because you never know what's around the corner (sometimes literally) in a racecar!
