Default R.i.p z

I was driving on the parkway when someone cut off a few cars in-front of me, who stopped short causing a chain reaction making others stop short as well. I barely had any time to react so I swerved trying to prevent a head on collision. The driver in-front of me swerved as well. After I swerved I clicked the car infront of me causing me to spin around and ending up smashing into the car in-front of him who stopped short. The person who caused it drove away like nothing happened. In the end, nobody was seriously harmed but my friends Cobalt SS and my 350z was totaled. ):

Sorry to see that kind of damage. This looks like the Pikes Peak White Z you've owned for less than three months? Were you driving and are you OK? Looks like the car went backasswards and bounced off a guardrail or two?

OP posted details on his shunt a few hours after his original post. Again, sorry to hear and see the results, but it looks like the Z's crush structures worked and prevented any serious injuries. The Z gave up its useful life to protect yours.

The person who caused it was..... The line of cars that didn't leave a safe distance between cars. Sucks to learn the hard way about safe stopping distance. Glad everyone was ok. Thanks for sharing.

Posts like these make me drive my Z like a granny when I'm in traffic and treat all the other cars as death traps all out to get me. Only because I'm scared they will do something and my Z will pay the price for it.

Z-car lanes anyone?

You'll find those at your local racetrack. It's called the fast line...

Exactly, everyone with damage to their car was at fault.

I hate other drivers! I hate parking lots! My worst fear is looking in the rear view mirror and seeing a cars front end all smashed up and tailgating me. UGH!

Yeah bro. I hate when some idiot on his Toyota with a drum brakes tailgating me as close as I can see his kids on the back seat. He is not realizing what Brembo brakes can actually do, and how fast its can bring Z to complete stop. I even put the Brembo® sticker on my rear bumper, but most of the *******s don't even know what is it.

Brembo means nothing for stopping distance in your case. Tires mean everything in a single stop at street speeds.

Pretty much what I was going to say. If your brakes can lock up the wheels, or cause the ABS to engage, they're big enough for street driving as you can successfully use up all the available traction. Big brakes are for repeated hard stops to avoid brake fade. If you need them on the street, you're doing something wrong.

When I took driver's ed back in the mid-1980s, we learned to give each other enough distance to safely react to any situation. Are they still teaching that?

i am the same way, 2 second rule... when a car passes a set object, you should be at least 2 seconds behind it

A variation. One car length for every 10mph, plus 1 length for hazzards like rain or dark. Dense fog is descrectionary.
