So I'm going to come straight out with it I'm a wussy when it comes to getting too fast up there. The fastest I've gone is 110 then I start feeling like I'm going to loose control but I've heard of people hitting 140-150. My car is stock(besides body) and does not have traction control or an lsd. I was wondering how fast anyone here has gone in their BASE MODEL 350z? Also has anyone had any expierience with installing an lsd on a base model? Or even installing a traction control system on their base. I didn't realize I bought a base until it was too late. (New to the game)
A rain tire. I have hit 155 a few times, I dont even feel like the car is unstable at that speed. If you are feeling unstable at 110 there is something severely wrong with your car. (Tires, Suspension, Alignment, after market body kit not aerodynamically sound?) 125 in this car felt 1000% more safe then 80 in a 2002 honda CR-V my Girlfriend use to have. I know my struts need to be replaced, as well as several bushing and it still feels rock solid 130+. At 124mph I can hear the howling of wind though my weather beaten seals in the windows.
Side note its cheaper to buy a quaife LSD for a base then it is to replace the garbage VSLD that comes in higher trims. TCS has problems with tire sizes and burn outs some times too. So what looks to be a detriment might be a blessing later, depending on what you plan to do to your car.
Nothing wrong with the base model... But going 155 on a public road is a different story. We were all young and dumb at some point but theirs no need to go that fast... And traction control and a limited slip differential are not going to help anything at that speed... Lose control over 100 your probably ****ed.
Worn bushings, worn struts and crap tires are probably why your car feels like junk at speed. Before the aero work on my car, it still felt great at speed.
Where's travlee? I'm sure he has some thoughts to share with you OP. Thanksgiving wasn't that long ago but is Christmas the new time of the year for newbs?
Nothing wrong with a base model, it doesn't have stability control which is a huge plus. I took a lot of time to find my 350zr because I only wanted a base or Enthusiast model. The higher models have stability control which eliminates the whole point of having a sports car. I wish my 2015 Jeep didn't have stability control, it's unpredictable and scary
. BTW if you are doing 125mph and you get in an accident it will automatically be your fault and if anyone gets killed you can go to Jail.

if you get caught doing 125 youre likely going to jail
I had my base at 160 when I first got it in Mexico. Never again. 131 on the track at willow Springs. I swapped a VLSD in mine for under $200 said and done. It made a huge difference but I have found myself out driving it when I've been autoXing (and I'm terrible). I plan to go 1.5 way at some point when I can afford it and 4.08 gears.
