Can you guys stop being adolescent and talk somewhere else....stop hijacking this guy's thread...he's new...he asked a simple question, and you guys are using his new-to-Z status to puff up like you're something simply because you have owned a Z longer than he has? You guys have been jerks longer than he has since he's not one....so chill out and grow up please. Since that's been too hard for you thus far...at least be quiet and let this guy get the answers he needs...this forum is to help people, not harass them.
OP....keep bringing your questions....you didn't ask anything that warrants anything negative...you'll find this forum is a mix of decent people with the most vocal being the least mature and least competent at thinking and social skills...like everywhere else.
A K&N filter used for $20 is a great add....does give you a touch of torque and hp, (they can be cleaned over and over....so wait it out and find someone with a used one that is clean or clean it).
Pick something about your car you want to improve, and focus on that...but honestly.....save for tires, buy them online or used, generally you can get a great set of daily driver tires for four hundred or so, but nicer tires do make the ride better and better, so you'll at some point be striving for higher end tires. Quick tip....the Sumitomo HTR ZII and HTR ZIII are both really good budget tires for daily driving with good handling and quiet ride and tread life. Knowing what tires to buy is key...because you don't want to have to buy them when you absolutely need them...know what you want, then save, then buy them when you see them for a great price, even buying them one at at time, and then when you need them you don't have to pay full retail for whatever is available. You WILL need rear tires sooner than you think. The fronts will last ABOUT double the life of the rears...so budget accordingly.
For driving experience....upgrade to a used set of Bi-Xenon headlights, which CAN be found for $300 a pair with bulbs and ballast (normally about $450-$650 used, $1400+ new), and that will be a huge improvement in driving at night....you do have to learn the wiring and it will take an evening to do...but that would be my number one spend if you do much driving at night off the highway. You'd obviously need a little more money...but that can come with being a little patient.
Don't worry about the window motor...they do go....but not every eight months....I've had mine for years and done them twice...total pain to DIY them alone, very awkward to align some things when re-assembling, but not a nightmare, and bring a friend. But they will break...worst part quality in the entire Z in my opinion....and when you replace it the new style window motor will be twice as fast as what you probably have now in terms of rolling the window up. Then you'll want the other side to match.
Shift **** wise....a weighted one pound shift **** makes a HUGE difference in shift feel...makes the car feel like a luxury sports car.....can be found for about $60 on ebay..up to a little over a $100....personally....I'd recommend a shift **** extension (3" extension) and a cheap weighted stainless steel ball **** ($60) (think Ferrari style shifter) and the feel is amazing...huge improvement over stock shifting. Then I'd add an italian leather shift boot for $50 from RedLine Goods. So you're at $20 K&N filter plus $60 for shift **** plus $8 for shift **** extension (ebay aluminum silver or black) plus $60 for leather shift boot plus shipping....that's $198 I think.....that's what I'd do.
Later get your steering wheel wrapped in high quality leather....you touch the wheel and the shifter every time....improve that experience and you feel the difference every day.....it's a great improvement and affordable.
Later get the RJM adjustable fulcrum point clutch bracket...about $250 I think....and your car is TRANSFORMED from clunky shifting to beautifully smooth but not wimpy smooth shifting....and you can dial in how much resistance you want in the clutch feel....maybe buy that first? It's awesome....look in this forum for the five star reviews over and over and over...there's a thread on the RJM AFP clutch bracket..owner is Ryan...could not be a better guy.
Ignore the jerks....how they see themselves is an imaginary playground they don't exit....there's plenty of helpful people in the forum and lurking in the background.

My actual first mod, DVD/NAV unit, night and day better that the Blose unit. PopCharger, next was wheel/tires , track tires for stock wheels, swaybars etc etc.
I still have my original headlights and clutch pivot point today. What is really important, none of us really know!
Btw Saved, not giving you crap here, appreciate your effort to help the Op.

I'm comfortable with anyone seeing what's what and who's who in my threads...yes, I am a Christian, and very grateful to be one since I certainly don't deserve the Grace I receive through Christ. But we Christians are also not doormats or passive like the media might portray, not that I'll be replying much to Juvy and the Niles, that band of delinquents that likes to come out and play every time I comment or make a thread.
Simply put...I believe in being kind...and helping people. I have to laugh and grimace at the heart that really holds back from helping someone just because they didn't get as much help themselves. Maybe think that attitude through?
Did your high school teachers withhold teaching you every topic because you didn't do the research they did on science, math, english, etc...?
Do college professors refuse to share their expertise with uneducated high-school graduates just because the high school graduate hasn't spent a thousand hours researching Shakespeare, or astronomy, or biochemistry, or pick a topic? Nope....the good teachers teach from a love of helping students, even helping those with bad attitudes and petty maturity levels, because we all need grace and help, and we're all made to need healthy relationships...not harassing relationships.
Even though some of you guys are pretty rude and childish in my opinion, I'd still help you if you needed it. We all need Grace.

It's not enabling to help someone who is new, and in all honesty, why be so judgmental toward a new guy? You're judging his questions as being unworthy of your help until he has suffered the same amount of wasted time as you have? I've spent tons of hours also....more than I should probably....but I won't hold back from helping someone just because they haven't spent as much time as myself. If we all did that this planet would be full of people withholding help from each other until we all paid the same dues as the other people..how sad and selfish and judgmental of us....and yet...that is exactly what the Bible says about us...but I'm not going to start preaching or teaching about God here, just pointing out that the day we consider kindness to be evil we have seriously strayed from having enough brains to understand what is good and what isn't.
Be helpful, even before you have every reason to, and see your relationships improve, and your self-respect improve as well. None of us were made for the purpose of treating others poorly...that's a personal decision that we all are guilty of on individual levels. My decision is to not go in that direction even though it comes natural to us all.

One thing to help, another to be condescending.
Just to settle us all down a bit....enabling is different from kindness.

actually.... since there are many stickies that answers op original questions, along with this helpful site calls "google" you are enabling him.
if someone is to lazy to work, are you going to give him money? your "kindness" is enabling him and his laziness. why do you think the new generations are all lazy spoiled brats? they get everything handed to them. they have no motivation to go out and work for their things. and people with you mindset, is whats causing this.
being kind is helping those who have tried to help them-self but failed. being an enabler is is telling them its ok not to try because ill do it for you.
i dont mind helping people, and many members here dont either. what we dont do is spoon fed the lazy. do your due diligence and ask an educated questions and you will get the help you need and deserve.
as for the "teachers teaching" how many times has teachers given you the answers to your homework? how many times have the professor tell you all the info you needed to write your essays? idk about you, but when i went to school, i had to research the topic of my essay. my teacher never gave me direct answers, simply pointed me in the direction where i needed to look.
How about take a loan for 20k on top of the 15k+ to buy the car and put only the best on the car then tickle your butt hole when you go to sell it down the road and only get 15k. Because that is what is going to happen. The tickle the butt is for some enjoyment while getting ****ed. Lol just drive it and make it look clean. You will never get what you put into the car. If that's what you expected, should of bought a 1960s hotrod. But what do I know, that's just my 2cents.
