Default Questions on my new baby

Hi all, I will enumerate my Qs, a bit long and I appreciate your patience big time :

1 - What model do I have? Believe it or not, around here, the dealership does not know that there are several models for the Z. They say that for the Middle East we get one model. Some identifiers, Bose six CD, leather, 18 inch, sounds like a Touring but it has Brembo brakes too (thought the Touriong did not).

2 - On the front spoiler, on the sides, there are thingies like turn signals. Mine do not light up at all. Is there a switch or something for those? I have seen pics here where they seem permenantly lit, I guess when you turn on the headlights? Maybe a fuse or something?

3 - My car was pre-ordered with some mods and the guy changed his mind (family) guy, so I got it for a good deal (nothing compared to you guys as we have 40% custom tax on cars here which the government steals basically) - corruption, but no speed limits .

Anyway, I was told that the guy had "extras" on it. The exhaust is Stillan ?, it has a nice roaring sound, not too much, but nice, and a different "air intake" and they added a small rear spoiler and skirts?. They showed the intake to me, it says, "Injen Technology" (Dyno Performance Products). They said these should add some HP. Any info on the "different" mufflers and air intake?

4 - One follow-up to number 3, a mechanical engineer here who has worked with sports cars for the past 5 decades told me that the engine would run better with some tuning. He said the larger air intake needs to be matched with more fuel injection to benefit and add HP. As of now, he is saying it is counter productive with Nissan putting the part without tuning to "account" for it. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks so much, can't wait to take it out tonight.

Happy Valentine

I believe the "thingies" you are reffering to on the front bumper are headlight cleaning nozzles. Check your owner's manual for proper operation of these. sorry we don't have these in the states so I could not tell you how to operate them.

I believe European and other world countries only receive one one Z model and it sounds like an amalgamation of some of the best parts of a Z. The wheels are not the track wheels but the touring/performance model 18s, right?

The Injen cold air intake system is supposed to add like 5hp, but is really only good for about 3hp or so (more depending on conditions). The Stillen exhaust system does add some extra horsepower but weighs more than the stock ehaust I believe. Check out the forums for more info, or go to their website here . There was also an exhaust shootout that should be posted somewhere within this site that might be useful to you as it has many comparisons.

Hope this helps! Have fun with your new girlfriend tonight

The thingies that I am referring to appear lit in orange on pimp's Z in his avtar in the previous post.... Those never light up with me...

Man!, the guy went through this for 3hps??!! The air intake looks good though, all metal, maybe better reliability?... and exhausts that weigh more than stock??,, go figure. I would like to see another one on the road here to see if there is any difference in sound.

I don't know how to tell which weels are on mine but the tires are 18. The rims look like the "light" ones on the Track, how can I check this?

Yes, the seats are heated leather. They are orange and the door is black. Very very nice combo. The dealer said that was a "special" order hmmmmm....

Those things on you front bumper are "side markers" They do not Light up they are just reflectors. People on here sale the ones that do light up, they are called "LED Side Markers" but you will have to install them.

The Stillen cat back Exhaust system is a Good Performance upgrade. It is a Duel Exhaust with an "X" pipe instead of a single With a "Y" pipe. the Stillen Exhaust sells for $1200USD. More info here

The Injen CAI (Cold air Intake) is another good basic Performance Modification. It allows for Colder more dense air to get in to the Engine, Allowing for more HP to be made. It sale for about $300USD. More info here

Yes, Some "Tuning" will help you see more power from the Modifications, but it not Necessary. There is not much you can Do to you Z as Far a tuning goes right now, Unless you have the Japanese Spec 350Z. there are a few companies in the US that do whats called a re-flash of the ECU. Basically they just reprogram the cars computer to make better use of your Modifications. But if you have the Japanese spec 350Z there is much more you can do along these Lines. For more info click Here

I hope this Helps,
BTW, It sounds like you Dealer might be right on the Model Info, in the US Only the Touring Gets the Bose System, and Leather seats, And only the Track Model gets the Brembo Brake upgrade. In the US you can not get Leather and the Bose on a 350z with The Brembo brakes.
If you need to know anything else just ask

With the Combo of the Injen CAI and The Stillen Cat Back, You Probably added 10-15HP over stock. The Stillen is not Heaver than the stock Exhaust, but it is the Heaviest of the After market Exhaust out right now.

Chazz, marhot thanks guys for the feeback.

Glad to know that these mods are good. The exhaust seems heavy duty and I love the sound... is it very different from a Headers which I hear a lot about ???

The rims are the normal ones not the light ones. I doubt I have the Japanese style etc.. Probably, like you guys said, they chose the "nice" parts of different Zs. I think the market here does not allow for much, but I think the combo they choose is on the money.

Took her out yesterday, I slept at 5.30 am. I woke up now at 10.30 am coz I wanna drive it. Will go wash her I guess. Damn, I decided that I did not want any long term relationships now and I wanna play around only but with da Z, things are different now... hehe

This forum is priceless and this car is different. Never, ever loved my 993 that much. The Porsches at the club where I was at yesterday looked UGLY in front my my sexxxy Z and boring actually.

Sorry for rambling at the end, but I could not stop myself
