Default 03 Track "Nismo"

I saw this on craigslist and i thought it was strange.

So i asked the guy
"How flexible are you on price.? Kelly blue book sets it at 7500 with 103000 and no rebuilt title"

He replyed
"I'll go $9k cash. The rebuilt title is because car got keyd on both side and someone ripped the front bumper. I know the kbb price but these cars are rare and hold higher value and specifically a track nismo."

After asking if he had the title, he did, I called him out.
"Um there was no nismo edition for 2003. There was a track edition but no nismo. Nismo editions didn't come put till 07."

He replied
" In 03 it was only added nismo package to the track edition and didn't get branded as nismo edition like the 07"

Is this true?

Here is the craigslist post

http://norfolk.craigslist.org/cto/5578949659.html

So I asked him how did i know if the mods were installed correctly?

He replied
"Not sure what do you mean by not installed correctly, this was a factory optional package that the original owner added when he ordered the car new."

I see a pop intake, a exhaust, and a front bumper.

He claimed the rebuild title was do to it getting keyed and the bumper ripped off.

I smell BS.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
I know I'm a noob so take it easy on me.

And it stinks.

OK, it is "possible" to have added the "Nissan aftermarket" Nismo S-Tune suspension, Nismo S-Tune exhaust, Nismo emblems, etc. from a dealer. But.....

Forget all that.

"Rebuilt title" just means someone took the time to rebuild and salvage car and prove to DMV that the car was rebuilt. It's still junk.

Thanks i figured he was trying to pull something. I saw nothing about a "nismo factory intake" or the other stuff.

He will be lucky to get 4k. Just wait a few months it will still be on CL. There are better examples out there I would pass on that one.

9k for a clean title, unmolested, low mileage 03' track would be fair game.

He's lying about the title status. It takes more than keying and ripping a bumper off to do that.

Rule #1 for weeding out potential cars is don't buy a rebuilt or salvage title car. it's been said here at least 1,000 times, and I just don't get why it just doesn't sink in.

Sounds like another CL pro. 100% bull and sales pitches...

BTW good luck using KBB.... The day I got my 2015 silverado for $42k off the lot (And I got a solid deal on it from a family dealership. Some of my friends paid $57k+ for the same options) But I went to get it insured same day with 105 miles on the clock.. The KBB rated my truck and options at $27k KBB value...

I told the lady if you find me a brand new 2015 silverado fully loaded for $27k Ill buy 3 more right now haha

She then replied "yea everyone with your truck seems to say that. These ratings arent very accurate"

There is no Nismo 2003. There is a "track package" but that just gives you different wheels and standard Brembo Brakes. Don't give him anywhere near what he's asking.

Correct me if I am wrong but there was a Nismo package you could get back then from the dealer. There was the S-tune and R-tune. This is neither. This may have SOME parts from the Nismo catalog but it doesn't qualify it as a Nismo. I would consider it a Nismo if it had the full R-Tune/S-Tune package from the dealer. That is subjective though.

Don't use KBB, banks AND insurance don't use that for valuation. They use NADAguides. Still even with the rebuilt title it isn't worth much. There probably isn't paperwork and a police report of the car being keyed and repaired. The car will be harder to sell in the future if you ever do. If you are on the search I would say just invest in Car Fax or Autocheck. It is totally worth it.

A few years ago the nose of my Z was ripped off by a driver who drifted a bit too far to the right while I was waiting to pull out of my driveway one night. I was looking down, so I didn't even see her coming. The bumper cover was destroyed, the front edge of the hood, too, but nothing else, not even the headights and fenders . . . but the damn airbag deployed. Repairs were almost $8K, and I was afraid Allstate might total it. Thankfully, they didn't, but if they had, I would have bought it back, and had a car with a damned salvage title.

To the OP, you're in the 757 like me. Trust me, there are better Z's for around the same price or a lil more in our area for sale right now. Just check on cars.com or cargurus.com and you'll see. Just make sure you CALL AHEAD first before you go look at em to make sure the car hasn't been sold already (made that mistake, lol). Good luck in your search.

BS!!!! The rear bumper is not even nismo. I live in LA so that's right by me. The guy is an idiot. Send a pic of a "nismo" car. Lol. It may be a track edition if it has bremo brakes.
