JDM engine
I have been looking for a good used engine for my 2005 G35 last few months. I haven't been able to find it. My friend told me about http://www.bestjapaneseengines.com/e...ti/infinitig35
They sell rebuilt and used JDM engines for G35. I called them on Friday. They claim their JDM engines have less than 50,000 miles. Is it true ? How can engines in Japan have such low mileage ?
So what should I get used JDM one or rebuilt ?

If you can find a Type R DE that's where the moneys at. I heard those things make like 450 WHP after vtec.
Honestly tho they have shops in the US who sell trans/motor for like $1,400.. Already JDM imported..

Having lived in Tokyo for four years, let me try to explain why these engines have low mileage:
1) Traffic is terrible and there is literally no place to really drive at high speed. The top speed limit on secondary roads is about 50 mph.
2) All cars in Japan are subject to a very rigorous inspection at the three-year mark. It is deliberately strict so that it's cheaper to buy a new car than to fix (a long list of items) and have it reinspected.
3) The average Japanese uses trains and planes for intercity travel. For example, no Japanese in his/her right mind would ever consider driving from Tokyo to Osaka (311 miles one way). My American neighbor and his family decided to drive from Tokyo to Sapporo (a 1000 mile round trip) and the Japanese in the office questioned whether a car trip of that distance was even possible.
All things considered, I would believe those claims of low-mileage used engines.
BTW, most countries in Asia either drive second-hand cars from Japan or use the engines and drive lines in other vehicles. All those Jeepneys in Manila are powered by second-hand diesels engines from Japan.
