Question about 350z I plan on buying
So I found a 2008 350z track edition 90k miles, not too bad, all maintenence records, clean carfax, but the thing that I find strange is that the listing says track edition, so does the vin when I run it, but in the pictures there are no aluminum gas, clutch, brake pedals, any idea is to why that may be?

If it doesn't have the aluminum pedal pads, also look at the steering wheel and look at the auxiliary controls.... if it has nothing on it, it's a Base model. Any other controls indicate one of the higher trim levels.
There is no such thing as a 2008 Track version.... It was replaced by the Nismo for '07-08.

Safety features, no. In '08, they're all equipped exactly the same from that perspective. There was a thread here recently that talked about the # of airbags in some of the differing trim levels (or type of seat, don't recall specifically) but in '07-08, safety features were uniform.
Trim level features are a different thing though.
I don't have any idea why the VIN tool would say its a Track when its clearly not.... IF it's a 2008. Which VIN identification tool did you use? The one on this site? The one here is pretty accurate.

Keep in mind the base model has an open diff, no VDC and only the base brake package. Depending on your driving skills, it's not the safest of the Z models out there. New owners on here have crashed Zs with more options than just the base model, however.

My '08 base has only the dash and steering wheel airbags. The VIN tool is useless for trim level determination, at least as far as I've seen. Ever time I see a Z listed by a FL dealer, they lie about the trim level. Nothing wrong with a base car, though, as long as that's what you're paying for. I specifically wanted a base for the cloth seats, no VDC/TCS, no Bose, 6-speed, etc. Mod to your own tastes.

Not sure about any cost-cutting, but to my admittedly limited knowledge, side curtain and seat airbags were always an option on the Z33. My pre-order '03 track doesn't have 'em, because I didn't pay for 'em. Probably the same for later models as well.
The FAST software will tell you more about trim level if you enter the VIN and click the OP button. The "GRADE" box shows trim level too. I see a base model listed on Autotrader as "TRACK" but it has turbos on it and a body kit and wing, and battery disconnect, so I guess it's a track model now

He said the carfax said it was a track model, not the vin decoder aka Nissan recall lookup

VINs do not indicate trim levels.
If you call Nissan directly, they will tell you the same thing.

Not arguing that at all but it might give him a better idea then a model that wasn't made in that year. I know a guy who just bought an '06 "grand touring". It actually was a touring. My point is to do some research. Before I bought my first z I read up on the different models so I went into the process a little informed. The first one I bought was advertised as a track model and was actually a touring model. Car salesmen will say it's whatever they think will get the most money out of it. Do some homework and you'll figure it out. All of the info is here, you just gotta dig a little to find it(search button)
Well, if you do decide to look at the car, just find the sticker in the driver side door and see what trim it is. G is base. T is touring (I think). AE is anniversary edition. Etc, etc. If it's not in the door area then it might also be engraved on a piece of metal near the engine.
