Default Giving A "Whats up", to other Z owners

I have noticed that many 350Z owners do not give the customary quick light flick when passing by in oncoming traffic.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Do you give the quick light flick?

With my first Z, 300zx 2+2, I thought it was cool to give and receive acknowledgment from other 300zx owners.

Rant over,
Enjoy your Z

Me too, but my local Zclub said that was also a "Z" thing, this was back in the mid 90's.

Anyone have additional info on this?

I usually stick my head out the window and yell, "Dude, your car kicks A$$! Yowza!"

But sometimes a wave will suffice.

Didn't know about giving a flash of the lights but I'll try it now. Usually give folks a wave but they are either not looking or think I'm crazy

I make it a point to do this with Zee's of all years/generations. (I drive a 240Z). Unfortunately, most of the newer ones don't have any idea what my car is

I wasn't aware of the 'Z Flash' lol, but I do throw a 'polite' hand gesture to fellow Z'ers. Most respond, especially older Z owners. Not many Z's of any generation around me tho.

When you flash the highs, dont the HID's turn on too?? My Infiniti did this, so I avoided flashing during daytime to save the ballasts.

But yeah, I get and give thumbs up or waves to lots of different cars, the other day I got a thumbs up from a guy in a new carrera 4... ya gotta love this car. It gets respect from every angle.

I f I am passing someone head on I will usually flash the lights. If I pull up next to a Z at the light I will give them the old engine rev, and then smoke them.

The "falsh" was real common in the 300zx, and some enthusiasts before that, community but has dwindled with the 350z crowd, partially I think to generational gap b/w some (I realize not all) owners.

There was a "Save the Flash" sort of "Ad campaign" that started popping up in ppl's signatures on all the forums, primarily www.twinturbo.net and there is actually a forum member here with one of the early sigs, showing a charcoal TT 300zx flashing his lights. Made me smile when I saw it. Text reads or used to read "Save the Flash"

So for all the newbies to the scene.....just so you know. you see another Z driver.....two quick blips of the lights please, can be accompanied with a waive if you like.

NE way, that's what happened

Better yet, let's just make it a point for all Z owners to buy 2-way radios and set it to a certain channel, that way, everytime we pass by a Z we can scream on it and they will hear us. Just make sure you turn it on everytime you get in the car...

I usually flash 350z's (my headlights) when they are going the opposite direction. When they are going the same way, i'll pace around behind/next to them, give them a little incentive to punch it once in a while...

Well next time I pass another Z I'll be sure to give a double flash. I love how there's so much community in owning a Z.

not to mess with a time honored tradition but i think the light bulb flash would be a little confusing. at least here in ohio it is known that a light flash signifies that there is a cop up ahead looking for speeders and since i am 90% of the time speeding in my Z (nothing super dangerous usually10 over at least as long as not residential) i think this would get me to brake too many times. i like the idea of a wave or maybe even a polite honk of the horn.

side note here is i am actually impressed with the cars horn. doesnt sound like the typical wimpy import horn, something i always made fun of cause up till now i drove american.
