I've done a lot of interior mods, though, and you'll find the quality of materials Nissan used on these cars can be pretty poor. The center console and door pulls were badly peeling, so I hydrodipped all those parts:
Shift *****, handbrake handles, boots, short shifters (or extended shifters) are also easy mods that can change the interior quite a bit:
And, I like lighting mods, too:
Some will call that last one "ricey", but I like it, and I'm all for improved visibility. The stuff you can't see is full OEM Nismo suspension (springs, shocks, bushings), Hotchkis sway bars, Nismo S-Tune exhaust, and Brembo brakes.
So, there are plenty of somewhat inexpensive things you can do to individualize your Z, all can be done to your taste, and all will be criticized by someone. Do what you like, but take your time, and if you're going to install some new parts, do the work properly.

I'm with Mic, in that the outside of my Z looks mostly stock, except for a Blitz rear spoiler, stubby antenna. JDM fender lights, and Rays LMGT4 wheels:

They're OEM Nissan parts - any dealer can order them. And, I'll take my $10 now:

Dcains, what did you wire your interior lights to? It came with a negative and positive wire that powers the control box or a cig adapter but the cig adapter doesn't push enough power to keep the lights on unless I give it gas

I spent $2,495. in 1978 on the driver. Wuzzat in 2017 dollars? Any guesses? FWIW, it's $9,137.29 today.
Moral of story: Equivalent 4-day racing/pre-licensing class at Bondurant today is $5,499.* Still cheap (and hasn't caught up with inflation) for a lifetime of driving pleasure that will never go away. Besides the skills you learn about driving itself, you learn a lot about yourself, your limitations, your temperment.
The point is, a skilled driver can take a reasonable amount of horsepower and turn it into more fun than a numbnut lamea$$ in a 2x ponied supercar.
* This is for one of the top courses, taught in a Viper and Formula cars. (My trainers were Datsun 810s, 280Zs, and Formula Fords, waaaay slower than today's cars but all the principles apply the same.) There are 1, 2, 3 day HP driving courses available starting at $1300.

Dboy has a junkyard at his house so dont listen to him heb it comes to parts. Hes gets free stuff while the rest of us have to buy our parts.
Back on subject, parts for the z arent cheap. I just bought 2 a weapon R (cheaper brand) coolant tank and power steering tank for around 125 bucks. 350z maybe an import, but parts comes at a price.
Plenty of mods you can so that will look good without costing too much. Wraping a few accented piece will cost you 25 bucks. Wrap the roof for 50 and the car looks clean without the cheap ricer look of plastidip.
