Default Good or bad valve cover

recently received this new valve cover looks like the spark plug tube seals are dry and cracking. Are they good to use or should I ask the seller for a exchange?

I'd not accept that.

Honestly just looks like your normal carbon build up.

Sounds like another overly picky private buyer. I'd honestly tell you to kick rocks unless you paid a huge price.

Buyers like you are why I rely on the sold as is. I've had a kid drive a car for 6 months before he tried to sell it back to me ovwr some BS like this after he opened the motor for god knows why and wanted me to opt for a full engine overhaul cause it had normal 10 year wear and tear. He expected it to look like a crate engine.

It's a used car. Welcome to matinance on a used old vehicle.

Some people expect the seller to spend a couple grand on repairs before the buyer buys their car worth a couple grand. Unless it's blown or obviously a scam sale it is what it is. Either buy or walk.

I used to be in the car business and know how that was. However, I don't think this is the case with the OP. Unless I'm reading wrong, he bought a new valve cover that looks like it's been quite used.

New to you, or a brand new part? If it's a brand new part, I'd ask for an exchange, or get a refund and buy from a different vendor.

If it's new to you, but has been used, it's going to have wear and tear.

Throw some RTV black 1 minute gasket on it and call it a day. Ask for $20 off for the bottle

Not sure where the carbon build up could have came from, since the part is brand new.

Brand new, purchased from Z1 Motorsports.

Well if it's a new part than yea.. send it back.

Might help if you had a little more detail on OP. It sounded like you bought it off a "guy", not bought it new from a company.

Like trav said have you even tried to call or ask them?

Yes, I have talk to them and they said it should be fine. Might put some rubber protector this afternoon and see if the cracking goes away.

Well I hope it works out man.

Yea that doesn't look "brand new" to me either. But I guess it is what it is. Hopefully they honor it if it's no good. A lot of people back Z1 here tho. I've only used them for basic purchases so I can't speak much about them.
