Specific question about my muffler delete on an Invidia Gemini catback
So I had a Berks high flow cat coupled with an invidia gemini catback exhaust. As seen in many threads, this catback was extremely quiet and so I decided to replace the mufflers with a straight pipe. My question is does the straight pipe break in at all? By that I mean when I drove the car initially and cruising on the freeway, it sounded fairly ricey and raspy past 2.5-3k rpm and was wondering if over time will the raspiness get any better/go away and if the exhaust will quiet down a little if it gets broken in. So far I'm loving the volume of the exhaust although it is a tiny bit too loud for my liking and the raspiness is a bit too much. The both the stock resonators are still on it, the only thing that was removed was the mufflers from the axle back.
I did the same exact thing with my stillen exhaust(with headers and testpipes) and it cut the rasp down by a lot. There was no sound difference after having it straight piped for a few days compared to the first start up.. Rasp for me is about 3k-3.4k . You could unbolt the new straight pipe section and see if there is a difference.
That's like buying a Porsche and then putting a Pinto engine in it.. But to answer your question. No, it's not going to break in. If anything, it will get a little louder in time because of the accumulation of carbon deposits on the inside of the pipe, reducing its diameter.. but very minimally.
