Default Selling price for core motor?

I'm selling my core motor for my 350 Z. The buyer offered $150; however, the price for a good used motor is much higher than that. I need to know how much I should sell it for that's reasonable.

The motor came with the car I bought. I pulled it out and it was missing the timing chain adjustments. That's being said it's an "interference" motor. I'm not sure if the valves or pistons were damaged because of this. Other than that it's missing some pulleys, water pump, and maybe some sensors. What is a good asking price?

That's a called a low ball my friend.

Not exactly sure what a "core motor" is. But a basic block with out the top end usually goes for about $200 - $300 depending on parts and condition.

Full motors average about $1,600 - $3,000 again condition/part dependent.

But since it's already been stripped, you don't know the condition I don't blame him. For all he knows it could be a 100lb piece of scrap.

Well I sold the 46k mile engine with the transmission and the remaining shell of the car for $700... I started the car and let the buyer listen to it running before he purchased. He probably also got $700 worth of things I didn't want to deal with just to get it out of my yard in an easy way.

My actual core motor I was going to sell for $200... This is a completely stripped bare block that could be inspected and transported in boxes... Its a lot of work ripping the motor apart into a bare block.

Its all in what it's worth letting it go for. Think the guy who got the 46k mile engine got a good deal, and I think I got a good deal... When both parties can walk away happy everyone wins...
