This is my first post here and is likely in the wrong place. I would like to apologize preemptively for that. I was involved in an auto accident recently and the Z was declared a total loss. Engine and transmission were not impacted at all. I was offered to buy the car back from the insurance company (salvage), I was curious to see if there was a demand for the car as a whole or as parts. I am located in DFW. I have very limited time to make a decision, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let it go. If you have to ask a forum if you can buy it back to flip and sell it off for profit.

You are already in over your head and not ready for what it takes.

There is, but ask some members around here. They have struggled to sell parts years later. Some have even just given it away to be done with it.

It's not free money, you will have to work for sales and bargin with cheap skates.

 

Thanks CK_32, I can definitely dismantle no problems. I just thought somebody might want a low mileage engine and transmission (6MT). I have parted out other cars, just never something like Z. It will all depend on the buy back price if it's low then no sweat.

 

I personally think that you will have a relatively quick turnover for what you've got. For whatever parts that you want to sell, just post them in that designated thread.. Post some pics. I'm already curious to see what you've got going on there.

 

I will upload some pictures tonight, it was 100% stock prior to it's demise. I believe it would make a great donor car for somebody's project.

Pictures incoming, car is not flood damage, it was a collision. I need it gone very quickly. I think $3750 is a fair price for the entire thing (I would make $500). That being said if I can get enough sold quickly it might be worth dealing with.

I appreciate the support, and wouldn't mind buying a membership but I haven't decided to keep it yet if I could secure an interest in it before making the leap that would likely be better. My wife is being a huge hag about the prospect of keeping the car in the driveway for a bit. Last time I parted something out I was single, oh those were the days >.<

 

If I did a partout in plain view of the strret my neighbors would show up with pitchforks and baseball bats lol.

Dunno my friend. I can see how the the time working on it and cash would help give you closure. Somewhere in a good book I remember reading,

"Better to live on a tiny corner of a roof than to live with a complaining wife".

 

Just let the insurance take it. Not worth the hassle/time to part out IMO. You'll get 1000-1500max for the whole car as-is and only if you can find a buyer
