Standard Stereo Clarion?

I ordered the Basic stereo because I have heard about Bose nightmares on many other cars. My roommate has an RSX Type-S with the bose and is preparing for an upgrade soon. Its kinda sad, but the only good thing I have heard about the Bose so far is the advantage of having a pre cut hole to drop a better sub into!

There is much discussion on the board about the Bose System having a Clarion head unit. And I am hearing good things about the Clarion aspect of this stereo system.

My question is this: Is the Clarion headunit the same in both the Bose and the Basic stereo? I am hoping to keep the factory look but of course updating all the speakers!!

All of the base stereo system is Clarion. I know the speakers are because I just replaced them. As for the sub cutout, it is there on all models not just the ones with the BOSE system. Actually it's easier without the BOSE, because you don't have to remove all of that crap, just pop the cover off and there is a whole!!!
