Default Nissan/datsun featured at the monterey historics

As all Z owners know, Nissan/Datsun has been a fixture in the world of motor racing for well over 50 years.

And in those years, many championships have been won in SCCA Club Racing, IMSA GTU, GTO, GTP...

...plus, great accomplishments in Rallying, including the historic win at the East African Safari Rally on the 240Z's maiden voyage back in 1971!!

So, why has it been 50+ years before Nissan was honored for their accomplishments?

Wel, it's all good and doesn't really matter anymore because this year, credit where credit is due is the long overdue theme at this year's running of the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion (known by most simply as The Monterey Historics) where NISSAN IS THE FEATURED MARQUE!!

Wanted to pass along info to all Northern and Southern California Z Owners who SHOULD plan on attending. But then I thought, this is BIG, REALLY BIG so to ALL on my350Z, you're invited!!

Z Owners of Northern California (ZONC) is organizing Nissan/Datsun Caravans - Nissan Parade Lap - Car Corral!!!!

Here's the full scoop on Z-Car Blog (a product of Z Car Garage, San Jose and my fellow roadster buff and seefu on the roadster forum, Alvin Gogenini):

http://www.zcarblog.com/2018/03/16/e...s-reunion.html

Hope to see you there!

Post-note: Even if you can't make it, take a look at Z Car Blog. Lots of great stuff over the years. Neither Alvin nor Rob asked me to give it a plug but I can't resist as a friend, customer, and fellow Nissanophile, well, love to share the gospel. Laff....

Yep- John Morton will be the Grand Marshall of this year's Monterey Historics as well! Lots of stuff going on the left coast this year that makes me wish I was local...

No one should feel left out. The Mitty at Road Atlanta occurs end of next month and the featured marque is <wait for it> Datsun/Nissan as well!

https://www.roadatlanta.com/the-mitty

Morton is the grand marshal for that event.

And there's a good chance my 240Z will be there to represent. No, not me present, but as this develops, will post about it.

But ya, lots of good stuff happening out here this year for Nissan/Datsun folks!! Heading out with ZONC to meet legendary builder, Pete Brock in a couple of weeks! I met him briefly back in the '80's, right around the time I met Devendorf, Posey, Leary, Adamowicz, etc. I was a nobody parts grunt but it's OK, now I'm still a legend.... in my own mind!

Ah, thanks for the correction, Mic. Either event is still a long way from Colorado, but that's OK as I'll be conducting my own historic events locally. Just another fossil trying to win another Rocky Mountain region championship and getting back out to the racetrack...

My wife and I may do this. We've wanted to do Monterey for a long time.
