Default Need Advice

Hi I’m in the market for a new car and am considering a 350z. I have a budget of 15k and am looking for a used 350z. I would prefer it to be under 75k miles and to be a manual transmition. I believe that I am in the correct price range but I would also like to leave some of my budget to increase the power of the vehicle. I am hoping to be in the 400-500 WHP range. Has anyone bought and built a 350z with a similar budget range in Southern California or am I off in my price range (too high or too low)? I would really appreciate feedback thanks.

$15K for a good turbo setup and supporting mods is about right.

Oh wait, that's for the car too?

Ummmm, no, a decent car with those mileage specs will run $10k +/- $2k (at least where I am). 400-500 WHEEL HORSEPOWER? Like I said in the first sentence...

And no, I'm not kidding.

You could probably find a rolling shell and LS swap it for that much.. if you weren't in CA.

If it was me ... I would be patient and consider broadening your search for a nice aesthetic (whatever that means to you) z with a blown engine. Get it for a good price (I'm gonna say $5k to $8k) and rebuild (or have the engine rebuilt/buy a built block) the engine from square one. From there give yourself time and money to research a turbo/supercharger kit, a tuning platform, supporting mods, etc.

You can probably find a 400whp to 500whp car for $15k to $20k but it's a risk - it could give in and leave you with a $10k repair bill just to get it going again.

First thought just find a oem car already rated at 400-500 whp and purchase that probably not going to be a 350Z but save yourself the agony and frustration from trying to build one with that kind of speed will be more dependable and stress free but you'll probably need to kick in about 8-10k more with your 17k I'm being serious!!

Nissan GT-R – 565 HP – $99,900, Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 – 526 HP – $57,240,Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 – 650 HP – $61,500, Dodge Challenger/Charger Hellcat – 707 HP – $64,195/$67,995 I'm sorry that isn't even possible on that budget but here's what you should be considering!

buy a shell for 3-4k. then spend 9k getting this.... bam 505 hp. but then you need to fix the heads, so figure another 2500 ish, and then you would need a t56 trans, sikky kit... yeah nevermind, still way out of your budget
