our 2006 350z has chrome wheels and we are having problems with slow leaks because some of the chrome has chipped off . Looking to find OEM replacements or other options. Have check local salvage with no luck.

 

Try EBay. (Yes, I'm serious. Haha.) There are a lot of refurbished OE wheels on there. Depending on which style your car has, you can usually find them there. What style are yours?

Or, you could go aftermarket. Not gonna open that can of worms, so many to choose from. If you don't need chrome, there's even more selection of OE wheels.

 

If your wheels are structurally sound and your only complaint is air loss, Fix-A-Flat or Slime are good options. If you just want to change them out, watch the For Sale threads and check the Vendors here, they price competitively. Or join the Z FB group in your area.

 

 

I would recommend to pull the suspect wheels and use soapy water to determine the source of the leak. I have had rims (aftermarket) that corroded *edit - like rust bubbles on the inside of the edge of the rim where the tire beads sit, these could only be really seen once the tire was off the rim...it was not just flaking chrome - edit* on the lip where the tire bead seals and that allowed for air leaks. Ultimately, I replaced the wheels with an OEM set from a local salvage/repair shop (that was for our Volvo V70R). Also, good looking OEM wheel sets seem to pop up on craigslist on a regular basis. Last, there are services to refurbish/refinish your existing wheels. I am really tempted to do this down the road with a set of mine - I do like the PVD Black Chrome finish that I saw on a set for sale, recently.

 

If you still have the OEM TPMS sensors, it's possible the valve stem seal(s) are leaking. This was a problem I encountered when I had my Nismo V3 wheels re-conditioned. The Wheel Shop removed the sensors and then re-used the old seals causing a very slow leak. You can get OEM replacements or aftermarket, both are pretty cheap. I doubt peeling chrome near your your tire bead is causing a leak.
