Hey yall,

I need to pick up a new diff for my 05 Z because the LSD is currently has, makes my wheels skip after about 20 mins of driving. Mechanics say its the diff going bad. My question is, how can i inspect and tell a differential is any good/bad when checking one out from craigslist? Im in SoCal and have encountered a few on craigslist. LSD's running from $120-$150. Also, is it a difficult task to swap them out? Replacing.

swap the entire pumpkin if you can. unless you get the diff shimmed properly, you will get alot of noise

Its actually not a huge job at all. Often the most difficult part is getting the spindle nuts off (AutoZone has loaner socket-sets you can use). You will need jack stands and some basic tools (lots of YouTube videos are available). Its easier if you remove the rear anti-sway bar and last half of the exhaust system.

Two tips: 1) Have a friend or a jack to help with the pumpkin cause those things go about 80lbs and 2) Replace the differential bushings when you replace the diff.
