Fuel injector servicing - not the additive or the stealership
So we are over the halfway mark into spring here in New England. I was thinking of taking the Z out next month to get some work prepped up for this track season. Its an 03' with ~150k miles that has been retired from DD'ing. Its N/A with a tune. no FI here yet. Besides the doing the fluids and underbody inspection. I recently came across this fuel injector service where you send in your fuel injectors and they basically do a flow testing and clean it with detergent in a sonicator bath. Now I've heard of the phrase " if it ain't broke don't fix it" and I've not had any issues with my injectors, but i'm thinking this would be a good preventative maintenance job. No CEL causing misfires either.
Here is an example service company that would do something of that sort: https://injectorrepair.com/injector-service/
the price is roughly around 100 and doesn't seem too bad .
Any thoughts on this? are the Z's injectors known to gunk up?

Hey Bak3rme,
I personally wouldn't bother. If you're using high quality petrol in your Z and you've been careful not to run the tank down to fumes, you shouldn't have to worry about injector fouling. Keep in mind that once you remove the injectors, the O-ring seals will need to be replaced. I'm not sure if this cleaning service does this for you or not. But given the current mileage on the Z, those seals will probably not seal properly if re-used (and I shouldn't need to tell you how dangerous a leaking injector can be!). With that being said, if you want the best piece of mind, replace the injectors with brand new units. If you already have a tune, then you're not limited to OEM. Get aftermarket and take the Z in for a retune.
I don't have the same kind of mileage on my Z as you do, but I prefer to use BG 44K once every few years to help keep the entire fuel system clean. So far so good, never had an issue with injectors or coil packs.
