Question Cleaning Fuel Injectors

My car has a nasty misfire with the smell of fuel in the cabin when it happens. It's not doing it all the time, tends to be ok when the engine's cool and is fairly unpredictable beyond that.

The previous owner mentioned that it had some injector issues and I found a quote in the car from Firestone for new spark plugs and fuel system cleaning but I don't know if it was ever done.

Is it worth getting the injectors cleaned or should I just bite the bullet and replace them? Diagnostics at Firestone is $100 plus at least the same for cleaning the injectors. I'm thinking that money could go towards the cost of new ones instead?

However, could it be something like a failed coil pack causing the problem? I've had coil packs go in the past but have never had the fuel smell in the car, so I'm thinking the previous owner must have ruled this out if he was specific about the injectors?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

A really nice scanner can tell you if it's the packs or an injector. You need a diagnosis from a trustworthy shop first.
How many miles?

Car has 118k on her. I've ordered a diagnostic scanner today so hopefully I can have a play around and work out exactly whats causing the issue.

^+1! The prior owner had mentioned the issues to you; I wouldn't even mess with problematic injectors, brand new set.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure I'll just replace them at this point. I'm gonna double check once I've got the diagnostic scanner before I shell out for the new injectors though.

Where's the best place to get OEM replacements? What cc are the stock ones?

I would just type in a search on internet and look at several popular sites for Nissan OEM parts; I up sized almost a year ago with a SC kit, but If I remember, the stocks ('07) were 330cc? Something like that. Good luck; if it is a fact that you have injector problems then once you get new ones installed your car will feel like a whole new one; you get used to how it is and don't realize what you may be missing! Good luck. * I found this on first site I checked; scroll down on page and they have oem injectors.

A new set of injectors may fix the problem, or at least give you the piece of mind, but for 700 bucks you'd better be sure. I'd be pissed if I spent that money and found out it was a bad coil pack or wiring.

If you can get them checked out for $100 that may be a good start. I'd recommend that you may do that and take it from there. You are getting bad, repeated backfires with strong smell of gas is cab; bad scenerio and should be fixed asap. Once again, I wish you the best with this. You'll probably find power in you car that you never knew it had.

I checked the diagnostic but it just shows up as p0300 - Random missfire.

What injectors should I be looking for? I guesss DE 440cc oem as it's a 2003? - I've seen a few sets sell on here and there's a couple of sellers selling used sets pretty cheaply on Fleabay.

While you are looking for answers on this. I have had remarkable results over the past 50 years as a master mechanic, by adding just a couple of OUNCES of Marvel Mystery oil to each tank of gas. Do this every time you put gas in your car for a few fill ups & see if it gets better. I have NEVER had an injector problem in the past 20 years doing this to my Crossfires, Corvettes, Mercedes, & my 350Z I have now. IT WON'T HURT A THING & has remarkable cleansing abilities. I can't wait to HEAR THE FLACK ON THIS ONE !!!!

Oh you'll get flack alright!
I personally don't believe in fuel and oil additives, but sometimes you stumble on one that works. I don't believe there's very much anyone can do for a sticky injector though, considering all the fuel pressure they have behind them.
