Default P0024 - Need a exhaust valve control magnet retarder

My 2007 350z Enthusiast, automatic, is running great, but the check engine light is on, so it won't pass smog testing. I have a great mechanic who tweaked it until it passed, but the check engine light is back on. I am leaving Northern California and need to sell it. Anyone here have one of these retarders or know where I can get a used one? The one my mechanic texted mw was part of the timing cover and solenoid, and was $800!

Default vq35hr Exhaust Valve Control Magnet Retarder

Hello All,
my answer may not be what you would expect but here goes.
this may seem unusual but check the maxima tech bulletin "NTB12-116" below.
This is for a VQ35DE, however it seems it would apply to the HR as well.
Next find a good Exhaust Valve Control Magnet Retarder from a salvaged yard HR and follow the instructions in NTB12-116.
BTW, I found this info by chance on the internet while looking into the same problem.
I'll be doing this to my 07 hr in the next week or so.
Hope this is of some help to any one with the same problem.
Sure don't want to spend 2k on VTC covers just to get the parts to fix my Z. LOL
