Default 17s on the front. What do you think?

No flame travlee. This is technically a new question.

As some of you know I've been dealing with some issues getting some konig wheels as Corona virus has basically shut down trade.

Konig has my same wheels in 17s. Originally wanted to run 18x9.5 +25 front and 18x10 +20 rear with 255/275 respectively .

They have 17x9 +25. This would obviously lighten things up a tad but I am concerned with a) how goofy this would look and b) would I be sacrificing steering feel doing this. I am 100% unwilling to give up steering feel as that is basically what keeps me from no crashing my car. I have no electronics so it's just me and the car. We need to communicate well.

Anybody run a 17 before? Anybody have some back to back experience running 17 vs 18. I know a lot of you guys have tried a ton of different setups and I would appreciate your input.

And yes, I know I am being inpatient but who knows when those wheels can get onto a cargo ship and over the pond to me. Seems that entire country is shut down. My one contact on the ground over there says she has not been at work since January 24. They are on what she calls "indefinite holiday". Right now they can't go do any work because only enough factories have enough face masks for the employees to be working (factory needs to supply two per person per shift).

I've had 17s but my opinion on them might not fit for you as it was on a VDC car and it was 17" winter tires vs stock 18s. They feel softer and not as sharp but I didn't mind them, I'm sure it should be ok with some track tires tho (I know some run like that) but I would just wait it out otherwise.

You are absolutely set on those konigs huh. Have you looked to see if any other vendor has spyder style wheels?

Some racers have used 17 X 9.0 Enkei RPF-1s in the past. Lower unsprung weight and lower tire costs were some of the advantages, but for a street car, not sure if those hold as much value.

Oh I have done TONS of looking and researching and I've made far too many phone calls. An equivalent weight/strength/quality wheel with similar offsets and sizes will cost me almost double.

I mean, nothing comes close. Enkei MAT formed are the nearest thing and they are about $1600 a set and aren't quite the offsets I am looking for. I no longer run spacers. I don't trust them any longer

Just to make things clear... the Enkei “Most Advanced Technology” (MAT) was designed by Konig and licensed to Enkei. Konig Amplifirms, xxxx-gram wheels are all roll forged as well.

Maybe you should bump up your willing to spend price...spend a little more and get now, or spend less and wait.

Konig has a three of 18x9 +35 in stock right now. I could grab some 5mm spacers and be right in that wheel offset sweet spot for steering feel. I'm thinking that might be the best thing for me to do

My car had 17s when I bought it. Shouldn't be a problem staggering 17/18. 2 things to ponder -
Will you carry 2 spares 17/18 or just a can of Fix A Flat (Slime)?
BBKs won't fit over a 17". 2 cents.

Until now, have only ever run double stagger on my Z33 Nismo. Because it came that way.

Now have a double stagger (18/19) set I'm putting together. Hardly an issue with stock diameters no matter what. (255/40-18 & 275/35-19) No one would notice unless they look very closely.

The more I think about it the more I think I should grab the 10" for the front in case I decide I want to try a square setup later. I am going to drive out to the car this weekend and test fit the rears on the front to make sure they are far enough away from the caliper. I have the regular two piston on line (non brembo) but konig has this note at the bottom of their catalog and the rears are the B type

I'm not sure if you're set on the Ampliform per your other thread, but it looks as though America's Tire can get other Konig models in 3-5 days (at least when shown in ZIP 92870).

I feel like this is absolutely going to clear the front, non brembo, brakes. There is a ton of space between the inside of the top spokes to the hub.

Anybody have a tape measure and some HR brakes? Can you measure the distance between the outside of the front brakes and the face of the hub. My car is like and hour and a half away.

Take my word for it. They'll fit. Almost ANY wheel will fit the standard brake setup.

OK, I will take your word. I have never even actually considered this with wheels before. Everything always just fit. Figured I would ask just in case. You just saved me 3 hours of driving

I ran 17x9 front with 275/40-17 front and 18x9.5 rear with 275/40-18. Worked great, worked with VDC and even fit over my 14 inch rotors and 6 piston front brakes
