Default Looking for some opinions on my exhaust setup

Hi yall
Well I bought my z awhile back. Been fiddling with it. I figure it's time for exhaust. I bought it with berk test pipes, an agency power single exit, and the stock y pipe with straight pipe welded in. I bought a megan y pipe yesterday. 150 bucks is cheap enough I figure. Anyway, I like the exhaust fine. Except it's kinda loud. I bought it that way though so not much choice. Either way I gots an idea I figured I'd shoot to yall. I'm thinking I'll buy a couple of those cheapo $20 bullet mufflers off jegs or some such and weld them into the y pipe. They don't quiet much down. But I'm thinking it'll make it just quiet enough to be manageable. I can't find anybody that's done anything like this before. Weld a muffler in front of a muffler. Figured I'd see if yall have any input is all

I can see why it's loud. Test Pipes and Single exit... I run Hi-Flow cats myself, and never really had an issue myself.

Yeah. With what I understand to be one of the loudest single exits there are. It's a little too loud. I'll try welding in a cherry bomb in the middle or something and see how it does

You may have better luck replacing the end section of that single-exit with an actual muffler/ dual exit exhaust similar to the factory style.

You didn't mention if you had any resonators, but if not, I'm sure the rasp only adds to the loudness of the exhaust.

Honestly dont think those mufflers you mentioned will do much at all, considering they're still mostly 'straight-through' piping. Once you put on test pipes, theres not much you can do to quiet it down.

That is true. They don't do a lot. I don't have any resonators. I may need to weld a couple in. I have considered a new exhaust. But I've already got this one. Its kinda beat up. The guy before had this thing slammed to the ground. Probably not worth anything used. Maybe I'll just cut the pipe for it and toss in a larger muffler

I would just drive it as is until you can just afford to get a whole complete exhaust setup I would possibly try the whole setup by Motordyne or Ark better sound and performance!

I've already got the Megan y pipe and a couple resonators to weld in there. I'm gunna try that. I'll let yall know.
I'm not willing to buy motordyne stuff or Tomei or something. Way too expensive. And not worth it in my opinion. Performance wise that is.

Test pipes are the key to the loud raspy-ness. You also need to upgrade your y-pipe and probably get the Nismo S-tune.

What I did was get BERK HFC's installed, but they take a lot of patience, hours, 1/2" extensions and 3/8" extensions with an assortment of sockets deep and shallow. My Y-pipe was TOP SPEED Exhaust Y-Pipe Y Pipes 350Z Z33 3.5L VQ35HR 07-08 because I have the 2008 model. I'm not sure they still sell this on ebay. If you want a cheap catback, I went with Megan Racing OEM-RS black which only went for 449.00 years ago. Sound is toned, but gets louder at higher rpms.

I had the Invidia Gemini exhaust (true dual from what I can remember). Loved the sound. It was mated to resonated TPs. Not raspy, deep and throaty growl when driving under normal conditions. It was the perfect exhaust system for me.

If this doesn't work I will probably look into a new system. The drone is bad enough it gives me a headache unfortunately. But I will keep those in mind. I think if I was to legitimately buy a new exhaust I'd get the Tanabe medallion. I do like loud. Just not this loud. And the Tanabe sounds good to me. But it's a lot of money and I haven't decided for sure which direction I want to take this car yet

If you like loud notes under WOT, then the Gemini is a good one. It's got a nice tone to it during normal driving, and it's not annoying.

I will look into that. I will be slowly gathering ls parts for the car until I can swap it. But that will be awhile. So I do want it to sound decent for now
