Default Vapor Blasting - Chicagoland

Hey all, I have my VQ apart right now and I'm looking to have the heads, timing covers, plenum, and some other misc aluminum vapor blasted in the Chicagoland area. Anyone know of a place that provides this service? Vapor-Shine in Naperville appears to be defunct.

Thanks,

Sundown72

Nice project you got!
But why not sand it down and polish? Doing that comes out to a brilliant shine, but it takes patience

I bet he doesn't want to do the labor which is why he is looking for a place. I would never do that type of tedious/pointless labor

Same here but it's more of a show thing. Some people just get tired of seeing that old bland look when they open the hood

That's what coatings are for polishing or vapor blasting is temporary. Powder coat and forget about it.

Thanks for the replies.

I've got no interest in polishing. As for powdercoating, I use the process extensively on custom bicycles I build, but I'm not coating the heads. I am sending all the brackets, and things like that off to my coater, but I don't necessarily trust my coater with sandblasting around the machined surfaces of the timing cover and plenums, he's got a heavy foot with the sandblaster. I was aiming to get the whole lot vapor blasted so I could then just pass the cleaned timing covers and plenums to my coater clean and ready to go.

Nothing in Chicagoland?
