Hey guys going to look at a 350z tomorrow
2003 auto trans
with blown heads
bringing my code reader obviously
does anyone know which cylinders have water jackets ?
So I can determine if the engine is toast as well or not ?

Any other stuff i should look for or any pointers you guys can give me ?

Has 237K
on it but it seems like a hell of a deal only asking 4000$ canadian for it. Some older guy owns it feel likes it’s probably not abused. I can do the heads myself just not interested in spending another 1200$ Canadian on another engine but yeah .

Don’t the heads usually go on these motors see a lot of g35s with blown heads around usually between 170-240KM ?
I’ve heard there pretty notorious.
I feel as if you didn’t know any better or anything about cars you probably wouldn’t know until they blew anyways ya know ?

It is not common for the heads to go. I would assume you would need a full engine at least

This thing sounds like it would fail a compression test miserably

Head gaskets blowing is not common at all. Only under abuse does this happen. The only head issue that is common at high mileage are worn out valve stem seals, but this is common with most manufacturers using rubber/silicone seals in one of the hottest parts of the engine. There are things as an owner you can do to help prolong the life of these seals, but eventually they all fail.

Cylinder heads aren't part of scheduled maintenance. You'd probably come out better with a known good used engine.
