Default This bugs me!! I'm confused

In canada the Z is available in the 'Performance', 'Touring', and 'Track Pack'

I want the added benifits of the 'Track Pack' but it doesn't come in leather

Do you think if I went with the 'Performance' could i just add the Brembo brakes and lighter wheels?

Yep. But not in Track pack or touring.

Doesn't make sense to me

Default Leather on Performance in Canada

In Canada they only have three models. The correlation goes like this:

Touring (Can) = Touring 5AT (US)
Performance (Can) = Touring 6MT (US)
Track (Can) = Track (US)

At least that is my understanding of the situation.

I just find it odd that only the performance comes in leather. And cloth for the other two. Maybe i can just upgrade to leather for the track pack?

I think it would be cheaper to upgrade the performance's brakes and wheels.

Or does the track pack have more differences than i understand.

I'd go with route 2 in your situation because it is easier to add on leatherseats.
I've herd a ton of horror stories with aftermarket leather. No experience myself but brakes are not too hard to upgrade. Basically a bolt on almost. And wheels are even easier right

In canada Touring and performance are the exact same car, the only difference is the touring gets the automatic, and the performance is the 6 speed. BOTH come with leather, with no rear-spoiler (not sure about front). Both cars cost the same (44,900CAD is around 29,000USD), they are both fully loaded with the only option being the navigation.

Track gets the rear spoiler and the wheel/brake upgrade, but the seats/stereo downgrade. With no nav. as an option.

One thing I don't understand is, the Daytona Blue picture taken at nissan HQ in the US has navigation, yet the car is a Track model. Was this an option for you american buyers? Its not here. (I'm going to assume its just for show)

We've pretty much been kept in the dark here, we're told to assume a lot, but I suspect it'll change as it gets closer to delivery time.

Somebody did a comparsion a while back on zcar.com. The Track is a much better deal than trying to upgrade to Brembos + Rays later. You save something like $3000.

I've never heard any problems w/ aftermarket leather. What are some examples of horror stories you've heard?

Someone showed me picures of their leather job in their teg. It looked amazing new but after a few years it started to bunch up. Another story on a mustang. Same thing.

I'm not sure where they had it done but it could just be a **** poor job

well, for the customer in Canada(me) i suggest u to buy the performance and upgrade the brake and wheels, personally i don't like the aero pack(no offense just my opinion) and the things u get in perform. are electric adjustable seat(both, one 4 ways the other 2 ways), heated seat(really useful in canada) and depends on ur exterior u'll be able to get the orange burnt colour one(the seat). additionally, u have the bose sound system, and some small stuffs i can't remember, but in my opinion i think the performance in Canada is the best model at the best price range~~

I have to agree. The brakes and wheels can be added after.

Yes, you can get the Navi in the track here.

It surprises me sometimes when I read these Z related forum and seeing so many Canadians being miss informed about the Z. To set the record straigt, there are 3 models: Touring(Auto with leather), Performance(Manual with leater) and Track Pack(Manual with carbon cloth). All three has the option of adding the Navigation system, which IMHO is usless in Canada.
The best value for the dollar in Canada would be the Track Pack model, since this is only $1600 Cdn difference, and you are getting the aero kit(both front and rear), Ray wheels & Brembos. You do drop the leather seats that are heated and powerd, and you do get better sound system.
Best option is what I did: Order the Track Pack, which includes all the performance features, once the car arrives at the dealer, have Nissan re-do the seats in leather(dealer quoated me $1500 and 12 colors to choose from), then pay the tech another $200 to install the heated seats, and there you have it! $48200 for the perfect car!(Aside from the snow tire problem).
Seriously people, these info are right on the nissan web site, why argue or debate about it?

You would rather screw around with the brake than a piece of skin on your seat? I hope you have a good mechanic, otherwise it would be fun to se a Z going 160 down hill without a brake.

It's not that hard to change your brake system. And you don't need a mechanic to do it either. But you have a point in getting the track pack and having the dealer install leather and the heaters in the seats after.

It's probably the absolute best route to take. Plus there are warranty issues when you replace stock parts.

The track model does NOT come with navigation as an option in Canada.

And in my opinion, the Track model is kind of a waste.. Those wheels don't look like much of an upgrade and the brakes can be upgraded for much less than 1600CAD (if the upgrade is even needed).

I'm sure there will be people looking to buy the 18" performance wheels to replace their base model 17s, so selling the wheels to them and upgrading to whatever better wheels you choose is always be an option.

Plus with the track model, you get 1 less speaker, 5 less CDs slots and as you mentioned, no power/heated/leather seats.

buying performance or track model in Canada is kinda different than in US, as myself i don't like to add so much aftermarket things and i'm not planning to, but if i have to i wouldn't go for the interior part which changing ur seat and speaker or sound system mean that u have to mess around with the dash and interior things, hence adding them in a bad bodyshop might cause ur car to have a bad interior.
