IMO a modified car even if it just wheels lowers the value if they don't have the factory wheels. These darn kids love stripping the interior out and never putting it back.

Parts certainly don't add value, but nice parts by themselves can retain value better than a cheap ebay knock off. I run a set of OG Momentum headers that I'd easily be able to get all of my money back out of. Same with the Voltex body pieces. Definitely don't modify as some sort of investment, it isn't, but you can do it smartly to help get more of your money back later on.
