Front Spoilers and Curb Rash

Front Spoilers and Curb Rash
I do not have a front spoiler (yet) on the bottom of my front bumper, although I own one.
I find myself repairing the front bumper every few years due to scraping the damn thing, despite my best efforts not to. Seems like there is always a curb or entrance to some place that will "get you" no matter what.
I purchased a front spoiler that attaches with tape or screws, but I KNOW it will probably suffer the inevitable scraping and damage if I install it.
Have you gone through this pain-in-the *** problem ? Should I install the spoiler and use it to protect my bumper ? I am thinking it might be easier to replace it or repair it.
Comments?

I run a Varis front lip/spoiler that screws on from the underneath and think the car looks absolutely naked without a lip. So for me 99% cosmetic improvement. As far as protecting your bumper I think you're swapping one issue for another - the maintenance will be shifted to correcting the lip instead of the bumper (obviously).
If you've already bought the lip, spray it at home or take it to a shop and slap that puppy on! Post up a pic using the mountains button next to the smiley!
edit-
Post the "after" pic.

Laff, standard on Track model and no, I didn't pay $366 for it. That's lewd-a-chris!! I think I got it on closeout for like 30 bucks.

I've got a V2 bumper on my Z. When I took off the OEM bumper, I noticed that the majority of the scrapes were on the corners, so I made some wing-looking things out of carbon fiber (you know, because racecar) in order to add some protection. I thought they would also flow well with the carbon fiber Chargespeed side skirts. I figured that it would be easier to replace those since I made a mold instead of fixing the bumper on a regular basis.
Since scraping is just about inevitable, my advice would be to get the front spoiler and fix that as it would be easier than fixing the bumper. If you're handy with fiberglass or CF, you could always make a mold of the front spoiler when you get it so you could easily replicate it.
