![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Hello! I am a brand new Z owner. I have a 2007 350z Enthusiast trim. It has a VLSD but I would like to also have an open diff to weld (for drift events). I've been trying to read about about compatibility but it still seems unclear to me which differentials from which cars (Zs, Gs, year?) will fit.
Questions
That's it for now. I appreciate any guidance. Thank you!
Questions
- Are there any good links, resources, manuals I could read about diff compatibility?
- Can an open diff (presumably from a base model) be swapped in directly to a non-base VLSD model Z?
- If no, what extra parts would I be looking to also have?
- Are the Infiniti g35 diffs also compatible with the Z?
- If yes, which ones are also safe to potentially buy?
- Do you have an open/welded diff in the NorCal area I could buy?
That's it for now. I appreciate any guidance. Thank you!

Z1 motorsports has a very nice chart that shows the car years the gear ratio and explains the benefits of different years axles etc. But as Mr. Sparco said the stubs for the open diff is the major difference.
It would be a real pain in the *** to swap a diff for just an event, you have a lot of motivation.
