Has anyone put a infinity g35 motor In a 350z cause I’m thinking about putting a 2005 g35 motor in my 350z. Will the computer in the 350z communicate with the g35 motor. If any one has I sure would like to know what all has to be done to do this

Yes, many people have swapped engines between G35s and 350Zs, but there is a caveat. The main exception to be aware of is the 2005.5-2006 model/years with the 6MT. Nissan changed the engine design in these years with the 6MT. These engines are known as the VQ35DE Revup. The Revup VQ is not compatible with the early generation 350Z/G35s wiring harness and PCM. It's very easy to tell the difference between the two engine blocks. The front timing covers over the cam sprockets are completely different. See pics. Just make sure the donor 2005 G35 is/was equipped with an automatic transmission and you shouldn't have any issues with the swap. I assume you plan to re-use all your existing wiring, PCM, and accessories, just doing a long-block swap?

Thanks for the info that motor does look like the older one so must be an early 05. And yes using my wiring and all sensors and oil pan from my motor in my 350z. The infinity is an automatic and my 350z is a manual transmission but that shouldn’t matter. Let me know if that is an issue.

 

Be sure to swap out the pilot bushing. Your manual engine uses a different pilot bushing than what's in the automatic engine.

Only the 6-sped manual G35s and 350Zs had the Revup VQ for the years mentioned. The automatics always had the standard VQ35DE until they moved onto the VQ35HR in 07-08.

Good catch by Cobra. I figured you would be replacing the clutch and flywheel during the swap (usually includes new throwout bearing and pilot bushing), also a good time to replace & bleed the clutch hydraulics... and upgrade the clutch fork assembly with pivot ball to the cast iron version if your Z is still using the stamped steel version (can't remember if that was only used on the 2003s or if it included 2004s).

Anyway, should be a pretty straightforward swap, just time consuming.
