Hello I have a manual 04 nissan 350z and blew the engine. I swapped in an imported vq35de jdm engine that came out of an auto 03-05 g35. the engine seems to run fine besides taking a very long time to start and throwing a cam position sensor code. I did notice the cam position sensors are slightly different from the US version so i did not swap over the old cam sensors. Is this a possible ecu problem do I need to get it flashed or was there anything I was supposed to swap over from old engine. any help is appreciated.

No, not a PCM issue. More than likely the cam sensors simply need to be replaced. This is a common maintenance item on VQ35s and only OEM sensors should be used. If you see aftermarket sensors in the replacement engine, then likely that's the issue. I would swap the sensors from your old engine into the new one just to see if the issue goes away. Odds are if the old engine didn't throw cam codes, then they are still good. The cam sensor P/N should be the same for all positions.

As Icer said just swap over the sensors. That way you can rule out sensors being the problem. Omarbar where in CA are you located and if you dont mind me asking where did you purchase the motor from?
