Arrow tap into SPEED SENSOR / reading

Hi Guys. Installing a Pioneer Head unit with Sat/Nav. I have to tap into the speed sensor signal behind unified meter and a/c amp connector, is this the right wire (between the two red arrows)and the right connector?
TIA

Check the PIN number labeling on the harness plug. It should be PIN 26. Location: At Unified Meter and A/C amp behind A/C controls in center console. If that's the AC control harness plug and pin #26 (Solid White), then yes that's the correct wire for VSS.
Cheers!

Note: The A/C amp is the little computer box that sits behind the front panel controls. So I suspect your VSS wire is on one of those harness plugs.
Cheers!

Do you remember if the connector itself is white or grey?

Isnt the speed sensor a CAN based data-output?

Is this what your sat/nav is expecting to use?

If you can’t find the right wire let me know and I can look in the FSM - I’ve been around those parts chasing a fuel level sensor issue.

I did some digging in the FSM. Based on what I've found. It's the GRAY connector (M49 in FSM), pin #26 (white wire). Here's a PIC to help identify the plug.

VSS = Pin #26 on M49 Gray harness plug.

Beall is correct that some of this wiring uses the CAN system for communications. But I think this specific pin/wire is the raw/analog signal that the A/C Amp Meter then takes and converts/interprets into a digital CAN signal on the bus, for example your Multi-gauge LCD in the triple pod above the cubby.

When your install is done, share some pics!
Cheers!

I stand corrected, this wire is a digital output signal. But this is still the wire you want to tap into for your head unit.
Note: For stereo installation, the VSS wire is usually not a hard requirement, however it does give you more accurate location data when using a GPS/Map application.

VSS Digital waveform example, 5V reference.

More than happy to help! I'll also be doing a stereo install soon on my Z and I'll also need to be finding/using this wire.
Cheers!
