Default Oil Temp Gauge Reading Off?

Hey everybody, just installed a z1 oil pan spacer and an autometer z-series oil temp gauge on my 06 rev up. I installed the sender in the spacer but I've noticed that the temp on the gauge is a lot lower than what the oem sensor is reading. Any ideas? Is the oem temp sensor in the oil's path just before the oil cooler, and that's why it reads hotter than the pan? Thanks for the insight.

The oil does not sit higher than the top of the oil pan spacer. The sensor would have to be lower to be more accurate. That port is more for an oil return for a turbo set-up
