So I have a 2004 350z engine atm and I have been looking to find a 350z I can swap it into since the one I have now is just done for due to a front end collision. However, the engine ended up making it I just need to know if I would be able to swap a 2004 into a 2008. I know that they are different engines I just want to make sure before I buy the 2008 350 if I can do what I’m wanting.

I think your question is if you can swap a DE from a 2004 into a 2008 which came with the HR engine.

I suppose the answer is yes, but it is not a simple plug 'n play swap. Also, it doesn't really make much sense to do this unless you're completely married to your current DE engine, and/or it's fully built with upgraded internals.

If you want to keep your current '04 DE engine, try to find a 03-05 shell/body to do the swap. Then you won't have to worry about changing the harnesses, ECM, etc.

 

Totally agree with what he ^^^ said. Does not make sense to try an put a DE into a 2008 Z. Maybe you should also consider just purchasing a running HR Z and not deal with trying to find the right donor. Simplest thing would be to just find an early Z and just swap that DE motor you have. Good luck
