I think your best bet is to reach out to technical support at Uprev. Although my Z is tuned with Uprev, I didn't personally flash my ECU. But I know Uprev has security locks on their adapter cables. I think once a flash has been done, that cable and ECU become a bonded pair unless you pay extra for the "Tuner License + Cable." Something like that. Perhaps this is your issue? Did you purchase Uprev new or second hand?

Either there's an issue with the OBD2 wiring in your car, or your cable is defective. Basically something is interrupting/ not letting it flash, this results in a partially flashed ECU and you have to restart the car. Have you ever flashed the ECU successfully? Do you know for certain the cable is good?

There's nothing linking or marrying any cables to any specific ECU.

Feel free to email/ PM me directly, I do this full time. Seymore4 at gmail

Thanks for setting the record straight! I did some digging and learned the reflash license is embedded/transferred to the ECU after a successful flash. However, there are different grades/levels of cables?
Standard seems to be used for E-tunes.
Tuner is for those who wish to do their own tuning, but cannot open/modify locked ROMs from a previous tuner. There's a lot of ROM editing features that are locked down with this option as well.
Pro Tuner is for shop owners and gives access to basically everything.

Yes there are 3 types of cables. All physically look the same but give you different levels of access to the software. You can also upgrade the cables with a firmware update over email.

Standard: Basic reflash cable. Can hold 1 reflash license and lets you datalog, flash the ECU, and check and clear codes. If it has a license on it you can only flash an unlicensed ECU. If it does not have a license on it you can flash ANY ECU that is already unlocked. So you can share 1 cable between multiple vehicles.

Tuner: Everything standard does but also gives you access to the tuning side of the software. You can open/view/edit ANY unlocked tune file, as well as tune in real time. You cannot access a tune that's already on the ECU however, and most professional tuners lock their etune files for liability reasons. You can use this to tune as many vehicles as you want, you just need an additional license for each ECU you want to flash.

Both Standard and Tuner can be reloaded with more licenses (1 at a time) over email with a firmware update.

ProTuner: Can hold multiple licenses, flash anything, and do everything. This includes NATS and DTC disabling. Only authorized professional tuners (like me) get this one.

the issue is that the tuner is the one who’s being doing it for me when he first did it for me it was fine so i’m going back for a retune since i added some more stuff now i need a retune so i went to him to get it retuned it says CAN COMMUNICATION ERROR each time he tried to flash my ecu it gives that error throws up security light car cranks but doesn’t start till i remove the negative terminal and put it back then it’s all good i did some tests with the OBD port can voltage everything reads how it should be i’m suspecting maybe it’s his cable but at the same time i have doubts since he’s a tuner for these cars im sure he uses the same pro tuner cable on every car. but it might be my car so i don’t know what to do. if anyone can help me with the CAN voltage from the OBD port how much it should actually be
