Actually my Z purchase is kind of a Cinderella story. I have been eyeballing the car online for 7-8 months. I started talking to a few dealers about 4 weeks ago when they first started being delivered. When the first few came in they called me to take a look (I fell in love) I pre-ordered one the next day. They gave me a delivery date around Feb-March. It was a Black Touring 6MT with all the options. Three days later a salesman from Auburn Nissan called me and said they had a Chrome Silver available to drive home today. The guy that ordered it a long time ago had to back out due to a divorce (they kept his large deposit that he put down on it) The wife and I setup an appointment to take a look at it the next day Sep 7th (Our Anniversary) We had already seen the car a few days prior when it came in, but when we went in the second time they had marked the car up $6500. (here is the actual sticker that was attached to the window sticker) Keep in mind the car was ordered with no options or accessories. It does not even have floor mats yet (should be in Wednesday) don’t ask me what a $500 appearance package is. To make an already long story short I refused to pay more than MSRP for the car since I already had one on order at a dif dealer. We played around with numbers all day long. I walked out once and they sent the "closer" (sales director) out to reel me back in. We came to a compromise at around 2k over MSRP. We drove it home that night after spending 7 hours at the dealership. I canceled my pre-order and got my $1000 back. The dealer didn't do me any favors and would not even throw in floor mats (although the sales director was very honest and fair with me). So as you can see I am very privileged to have the car as I know a lot of you have been waiting for a long...long time. (hang in there..it's worth the wait)

However, I'm glad I held out and got my silverstone one. Especaily since that means YOU got to get that CS beauty

I'm not making any excuses.......I got a $250 gas card and lifetime oil changes....does that help? hehe
Considering I spent the better part of a day talking them down from 40k to 34k to get a car now rather then 6 months from now I don't see it as a big deal........Had I driven it first I prolly would have paid even more for it and put up less of a fight. ;-) Just my 2 cents....

sweeeeeet pics! how well do you know your way around the mountain? there's a road called "NFD 52" that connects Ashford (a few miles outside the Paradise entrance) to Packwood (a few miles outside the SE entrance...can't remember what it's called). it's a wicked twisty...sadly, there are no views of rainier while you're on that road, but it's best not to be looking at the scenery while you're driving it.
i've taken it a few times from Puyallup (where I live) to the Ohanapecosh campground near Packwood and back, and it's quite fun even though I don't have a Z. it's not heavily traveled and there's certainly no place for a speed trap. :-D
i think i may just have to wander up to seattle this saturday and find where you guys are hangin' out! i was behind a redline for about 30 seconds today at a light. then he/she pulled into Ft. Lewis Army Base and I had to get on the highway. :P it was the first Z i've seen in person since i went up to vancouver to see the orange concept about 18 months ago. *sigh*
i'd show you some of the many pictures i've taken of mt. rainier, but tripod has cut my site size down from 50MB to 20MB, and i had to axe those pictures. my orange Z concept pictures are still there, though:
